"Mamoswine Raid Meta Analysis (Past Raids and if it's Futureproof)"

#PokemonGO: This is my first time writing a wordy meta analysis, so constructive criticism is appreciated. I'll only be focusing on the moves Mamoswine has in the game data (Mud-Slap, Powder Snow fast attacks and Avalanche, Bulldoze, Stone Edge charge attacks), as it's Community Day attack is not confirmed in a major capacity, and even if the Chinese e-mail is true, Ancient Power is not that great.I'll go over the bosses that Mamoswine will be useful against in Pokedex order. I'll be ignoring Mythicals, as they're more likely to be Research.Vs ZapdosMamoswine is without a doubt the best Pokemon to take on Zapdos with, as it deals incredibly high damage and has an "immunity" to Electric attacks. In terms of pure DPS, Rampardos beats it out, however due to it's Electric resistance Mamoswine is the better option.Vs RaikouMamoswine is a solid Raikou counter, but by no means the best. Groudon and Garchomp beat it for DPS, and compared to Garchomp Mamoswine is basically glass. Still useable, but Mamoswine's definitely outclassed as a ground type.Vs LugiaThis is by no means Mamoswine's time to shine, as a majority of relevant Electric, Ghost and Dark types deal more damage and are bulkier Vs Lugia's attacks. Even the 2nd best ice type, Weavile, resists Lugia's Psychic attacks and can deal more damage using Feint Attack in combination with Avalanche for extra damage. Couple that with the fact that Hydro Pump destroys Mamoswine, and this is a boss it'll have to pass.Vs Regirock/RegisteelThese are awful bosses to use Mamoswine against. Being weak to Registeel's Steel attacks, Rock Smash and Focus Blast, Mamoswine has abysmal performance against these two. There's also better options for both, namely Machamp, Groudon, and Garchomp (soon). It should be okay against Zap Cannon Regirock, however, but Grass is preferable as Ground is... Less than great.Vs Latios/LatiasYes, I'm lumping these 2 together, sue me. Mamoswine is an incredible option here, especially against Thunder Latias. However, so are most Dragon types, and it's really hurt by Solar Beam Latios. It's best used against their Dragon sets, but again, Feint Attack Weavile deals more damage.Vs GroudonUsing Mamoswine here is risky, but it pays off big time. It has the best DPS against all movesets (assuming you don't get a Hidden Power Grass Shaymin Sky Forme), but it's very weak to Fire Blast and Solar Beam, and it's not the bulkiest option. Kyogre beats it there, even if Groudon has Earthquake.Vs RayquazaNow we're talking. Mamoswine is the absolute best counter for Rayquaza, bar none. As it's not weak to any of Rayquaza's moves, Mamoswine is definitely the bulkiest option. It nearly has enough power to solo it. It's honestly worth getting a few Mamoswine for Rayquaza alone, it's that good.Vs GiratinaSame story as Lugia: outclassed by Ghost and Dark types. Except this time, the super powerful Dragons join the party.Vs HeatranMamoswine's not good against most of the gen 4 legends, grasping at straws here. Anyways, Mamoswine's weak to every charge move Heatran has, so obviously not the best here. It has incredible damage, the 3rd best, but no survivability. Use at your own risk, and remember that even Flygon could duo this thing. Is it futureproof:As a Ground type:Excadrill, if it gets Drill Run, will be the best non- legendary ground type in the game. If Groudon gets Precipice Blades, it's no comparison. Mamoswine is obviously outclassed here. Even now, Groudon, Garchomp (soon) and Rhyperior are better options. As an Ice type:Surprisingly, Mamoswine's totally futureproof! As it turns out, Mamoswine's biggest threat, Kyurem, cannot learn any currently available ice type fast attacks. Yup, it has Ho-oh syndrome (unless they make it's signature move Glaciate a fast attack, which even with the assumption they'll give it it's signature move, is unlikely). This makes Mamoswine a completely safe investment in this regard. Mamoswine will be very strong against the Forces of Nature trio, especially Landorus, and Zekrom. There's also Yveltal and Zygarde in Gen 6. Definitely max a couple of mamoswine. In Summary:Mamoswine is a very solid addition to Go, and will be good for many future legendary pokemon and past legendary pokemon, too. Some stand-out examples are Zapdos, Raikou, Latias, Latios, Groudon and Rayquaza. May not seem like a lot as of now, but in future generations it'll be a force to be reckoned with, especially against Landorus and Zygarde, as they are both doubly weak to ice. That's not even considering all the potential tier 3 and 4 raid bosses that could appear in the future. I'd very much recommend powering up 6 to at least level 30, and possibly more.TLDR: Mamoswine's not the best against a lot of Gen 4 legends, but it'll shine for redos and future legends.Source for DPS/TDO calculations: Gamepress' Comprehensive DPS/TDO SpeadsheetEdit 1: Forgot that Mamoswine's not weak to rock. My mistake!Edit 2: Forgot that Precipice Blades is in the code. If Groudon gets it, it'll be a ground attacking monster. Wasn't in the calculator, so I completely missed it. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2WT2ClZ
