"Pokemon and Difficulty"

So for awhile now, I've seen a lot of people talk about how the newer Pokemon games are easier than the older ones. And I wanted to dissect that a little. The first and quickest way would be to just look at Gym Leader from RS, E and ORAS.Starting off with the first Leader, Roxanne:In RS, she has a level 14 Geodude and level 15 Nosepass. In E, she has two level 12 Geodudes and a level 15 NosepassAnd in ORAS, she's back to 1 Geodude but it's still level 12, and a level 14 NosepassSo from there, yeah. ORAS is slightly easier, and for early Gyms it stays like that. But then you get to Winona. To save space, I won't list out each Pokemon individually, just her two strongest on each:RS, Skarmory level 32 and Altaria level 34E, Skarmory level 31, Alteria level 33ORAS, Skarmory level 33, Alteria level 35And it goes on like that for the rest of the game, ORAS having slightly higher levels up to the Champion. Now, Winona being to reversal point is interesting, as she's the first Gym Leader in ORAS after you gain access to Mega Evolutions. Not just that, but a Mega Legendary.Which leads into the next point: Newer games having better quality of life, to a fault for some. We all know about the new EXP Share, instead of having to constantly switch between Pokemon to split the exp around, they now all gain the same from battle. It's been a point of contention. "Can't you just turn it off?" "What's the point in having it anyways?" "Why do you want to grind anyways?"ORAS giving us a Free Mega Legendary is sort of the pinnacle of that. I just don't see it brought up as much because I guess it's easier to box a legendary than it is to turn a machine off.Of course, there's one point that's sort of my main point.... Pokemon has always been easy. Whitney only wrecked you because you were a dumb kid. Pokemon is a RPG made on a universal battle system, meaning with a very few exceptions, every opponent is made on the same playing field as your team, so the only difficulty is grinding to match the levels and preparation to have the advantage. And even then, if you over grind, you can forgo the prep. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2nwaMDu
