"As the hype continues to build for Sun and Moon, I think we should look back at something."
Since Sun and Moon has been announced, Game Freak and Nintendo have been extremely fast when it comes to delivering news, meaning new info is uploaded around the world in various different languages within hours of each other. This means that fake Corocoro leaks are no longer fooling anybody and as a result, fake leaks have had to take a different approach. However, due to the swiftness of the entire Pokémon team, even fake leaks can be confirmed fake within hours of being posted online. There is a kind of charm to the fake Corocoro leaks that I kind of miss, especially on the run up to Black and White, in which telling fakes from the real thing was very difficult to do (Unless you were fluent in Japanese). Seen as we're on the run up to another generation, let's look back at all the fake leaks that may or may not have fooled us:This scan for X and Y that was posted around March/April, which was discussed for a few weeks before being confirmed fake. This scan for Black and White that was posted around July that a lot of people fell for, most likely due to Galvantula, Alomomola and Drilbur being shown off a week earlier in an advertisement. Was confirmed fake after it was announced no old Pokémon would be reappearingThis scan for Black and White that so convincing even Pokéjungle fell for it for a short amount of time. Swanna and Deerling were accidentally leaked by Yahoo a few days earlier and Pansage had been confirmed via a figurine that was in production, hence the strange shape of Pansage in the scan. This scan of Oshawott's evolution, which seems to be mocking Oshawott's somewhat snowman like face. Was quickly confirmed fake. This leak revealing the protagonist of X and Y which even Serebii Joe fell for, which was quickly took down from the site after it was confirmed to be fake. This leak showing Jynx's evolution. Many people fell for this. Was confirmed fake about a week after it was first uploaded. This leak of a supposed rival for Pokémon Y. This lead to speculation for a short time that there would be a Xerneas themed rival. Was deconfirmed days after. This picture of a fake Mega Heracross with a beard for some reason. Was confirmed fake within hours. There's probably a few scans that I completely forgot about or don't remember seeing, however, I'm sure many of us remember seeing these floating around before the release of B/W and X/Y via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2b5Y1nz
