"I'm pretty sure Niantic just ninja-changed spawn mechanics and maybe added a few spawn points."

#PokemonGO: I live in a pretty small rural town (5k people), and the road I live on happens to have a few spawn points. So a few weeks ago, I set out to map every single one of those points, and also noted at which minutes they spawned. I found a total of 22 spawn points on my 1 km road. Nothing specials, I at least found a decent route where I could walk for about an hour with the wife and catch a few 'mons here and there.Fast forward to a few days ago when I decided I wanted to have a bit more data to work with. So I got PokemonGo-Map setup, and started collecting some data. When I first started the tracker, the spawns were on time with the data that I had manually collected. When I opened it tonight, I immediately noticed some weird stuff. Here's an image showing the spawn with different markers.First thing, there was 1 new spawn point, which brought my total # of spawn points to 23 (not identified on the image). I've collected data in the first few weeks about every spawn points, and never saw it. I basically walked the road maybe 100 times, trying to cover every part at every minute to nail down each spawn point specs, I don't think I've missed it.Out of the 22 'old' spawn points, 11 had kept the same spawn time, 1 spawn per hour, same minute. (red marker on the image)One spawn is now a 30 minute spawn (blue marker). At first I thought that maybe it was two spawn points that were just pretty close, but after checking the data from the tracker, both spawn (xx:17 and xx:47) share the exact same coordinates. The red markers are now what I called 'random minute spawns'. They spawn at seemingly random times, with different number of spawns per hour. Once again, checked with the coordinates to make sure it wasn't a few very close spawn points. One of these actually spawn about 5 to 6 pokemons per hour, while the rest seems to be 3 pokemons / 2 hours or so. I'm writing the numbers down to try and find a pattern.*Some 'random minute spawn' also seems to focus on one pokemon for a few hours at a time. One of these spawned 6 or 7 drowsee in a row (pretty rare where I live). After that, it went on to spawn several krabby in a row (also pretty rare). This could also be a coincidence, but considering the fact that I caught about 10 krabby since the game was released, I find it hard to believe! At first, I thought that maybe Niantic was able to know which PTC accounts were used for trackers and was sending false information. So I went down the road, and every single pokemon that appeared on the tracker was also in PoGo.I'm far from an expert on databases, so if some people with a lot more data wanna try and run tests, we could probably figure this out pretty fast. I'll keep you guys updated if I find any pattern on 'random minute spawns'.Not a native english speaker, sorry if it's hard to understand. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2b0jzE4
