"Niantic, Pokemon Go, and the Mob"

#PokemonGO: Submitted this post twice to Pokemon GO reddit, and it was deleted twice within the span of Minutes. I don't know how to take that, but I guess my effort at positivity is simply unwelcome there. I wouldnt fathom how this broke any policies or rules in its submission, but needless to say I'm unsubscribing from them. That said the message is this:At times I feel like im the only one actually grateful for the latest patch. The world lost its mind when they removed footsteps, but the reality is it was no different than a perpetual 3-step. Even position in the nearby was no longer functional as of a week ago. Its literally illogical for this to be the breaking point. The community saw a fire in the corner of the room of Pokemon Go and its response to this was to douse the rest of the home in gasoline because the flames have not yet been extinguished. Hacking Hankes account, Colluding to sink the app and sabotage the company. Literal death threats and more. These serve only to subvert and de-rail their efforts and time from the issue at hand.Meanwhile, we received one of the best possible balance patches as a direct response to the overabundance of issues arising from certain power and pokemon imbalances. To me, this was a direct show that they did hear some of our complaints. It was a comprehensive sweep of balance to actually provide a meaningful game experience. Yes, 3-step/NoStep should be their absolute top priority, but that doesnt mean that its the only thing they can adjust in the meanwhile, and we really don't know that they arent working hard towards it. Logically it would seem if they have any desire other than to burn to the ground, it is their top priority. We don't know precisely what challenges they face.Niantic is not faultless here. Communication, PR management, and handling have been a major mis-step at this time. Absolutely the lack of their community involvement is inexcusable. The removal of Pokevision without first fixing their own corrupted and fundamental systems was intensely shortsighted. A lot of people are angry, theres a lot of emotion here and its overpouring. Just remember that anger stems from passion, we all love this game and we WANT to see it succeed ultimately. For a lot of us, its had an incredible impact on our lives in such a brief time. Theres really little to doubt that a solution will be arrived at in short order, It is a shame Niantic isnt more outspoken regarding this. Of course that demands an element of accountability on their end, as well as a future change in policy. However, If YOUR solution to happiness within the confines of this game is to intentionally sabotage it and spread the flames because of your perceived slights, then you are part of the problem. As a community we can express discontent and make our voices heard, but we must do so without undermining the very thing we care about. I have great faith in the future of this game, and I too am fiercely disappointed at the current situation. Yet, Im certain that it will pass and for the better. If we only add to the flames, we'll be left with nothing but cinders. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2aq36GG
