"Since the update, Incense attracts rarer pokemon"

#PokemonGO: Went out on a fishing boat this morning and decided to pop an incense- the results were staggeringly different than before the recent update. Instead of a stream of pidgeys and rattatas I was getting slowpoke, ponyta, staryu, kabuto, abra, ekans, cubone, and all sorts of mid-rarity mons. With about 30 seconds left, my incense spawned an ALAKAZAM. I knew it was from the incense because incense-spawned pokemon have their own purple ring around them (not sure if it was like this before the update).
