"My quick review of the Pokemon Go Plus device"

#PokemonGO: APPWith the Plus device connected via Bluetooh the Pokemon Go game can now run in the background while messing with other apps or can run while the phone is locked.While the game is running in the background you can use the Plus device to track distance on eggs and buddy Pokemon, catch Pokemon, and spin PokeStops.Having the game run in the background and using the Plus device saves a lot of battery.Light on the Plus will flash Red if the game loses internet connection.PROSYou can multitask or put your phone in your pocket and still track distance, catch Pokemon, and spin PokeStops.Less drain on phone batteryCONSIf you manually click on Pokemon on your phone to catch it the Plus device disconnects and you have to reconnect it.If you battle a gym the Plus device disconnects and you have to reconnect it.TRACKING DISTANCEWhen the Plus is connected I have found that the game tracks your distance for eggs and buddy Pokemon more accurately. In other words the game registers more distance when the Plus is connected.PROSBetter distance tracking means hatching eggs faster and gaining buddy candies faster.You can track distance when you’re busy or multitasking.CONSNoneCATCHING POKEMONWith the Plus you can catch ALL Pokemon (ones caught and ones not) that you come across.Light flashes Green for Pokemon you have already caught.Light flashes Yellow for Pokemon you haven’t caught.If you catch a Pokemon the light will flash Rainbow colors.If you don’t catch a Pokemon the light will flash Red.You receive all the same rewards for catching a Pokemon with the Plus (XP, Stardust, and Candies) and receive 25 XP if the Pokemon runs away.When trying to catch a Pokemon you use 1 Pokeball and you either catch the Pokemon or it runs away.PROSYou can catch Pokemon when you are busy or multitasking.You can potentially catch more Pokemon and faster by bypassing the catch animation.You only ever lose 1 PokeballReceive all the same rewardsThe Plus tends to pick up Pokemon before they appear on the game.The Plus can pick up Pokemon that are out of normal range.When riding in a car the Plus can pick up and catch Pokemon that don’t normally appear on screen because of your speed.CONSI have found that my catch rate for Pokemon with the Plus has been pretty low. Perhaps people with a lower Trainer Level would have a better catch rate since I am level 31 and I find a lot more higher CP Pokemon.You can not make the Plus utilize Great balls, Ultra balls, Razz berries, Curve, Nice, Great, or Excellent throws.There seems to currently be a bug that doesn’t update your Stardust count properly. If this happens just restart your game and it will display correctly.Sometimes the Plus can be delayed when detecting Pokemon near you and may not even detect the Pokemon at all.When multiple Pokemon are around you the Plus can be slow from moving to one Pokemon to the next.POKESTOPSWith the Plus you can spin any PokeStops you come in range of.Light flashes Blue if you are in range of a PokeStop.PROSYou can spin PokeStops when you’re busy or multitaskingCONSThe Plus is greatly delayed with detecting PokeStops that are around you. Generally you need to be really close to the PokeStop and in the area for a couple seconds before it detects it.The Plus can miss PokeStops that you are in range of.I can spin PokeStops on my phone before my Plus even detects them.If you’re riding in a car more than likely the Plus will not detect any PokeStops unless you are stopped near one.There’s a bug where if you spin a PokeStop with the Plus all the items you received display on your phone except for eggs. You have to go to your egg tab to see if you have received one.FINAL THOUGHTSAll in all I’d say adding the Pokemon Go Plus device to your Pokemon Trainer arsenal will only be an enhancement to your gameplay. Being able to run the game in the background and with the phone locked alone is a major selling point. Being able to track distance more accurately, catch Pokemon, and spin PokeStops all while keeping your phone in your pocket is even better. Car rides now allow you the chance to catch Pokemon you would not be able to without the Plus. Sure there are some bugs/issues, that may later be fixed down the road, with how the Plus functions but that doesn’t take away from all the useful capabilities the Plus opens up.
