"The real reason Vaporeon is overused."
#PokemonGO: I've been attempting to create a team of unique battlers to take on gyms, but I am starting to realize that apart from the ubiquity of eevees, there is an even more serious reason as to why Vaporeon dominates the meta. There are a few Pokemon I have been working on since day one, trying to obtain enough candy for evolution. As the day has recently come and passed, I am no closer to obtaining my team of unique battlers. Why, you ask?Upon evolving my Kadabra into Alakazam, he received the moves Confusion and Dazzling Gleam. It is already a stretch to attempt to put an Alakazam into combat, but with the only halfway viable moveset being Psycho Cut/Psychic, it leaves the trainer with a marginally slim chance of getting a usable product from the evolution. 50% chance of obtaining Psycho Cut paired with a 33% chance of obtaining Psychic on a Pokemon you might only have one chance over your playing life to evolve/obtain.Upon evolving my Machoke into Machamp, I received Bullet Punch and Submission. With even the ideal moveset of Karate Chop/Cross Chop having inferior DPS to Vaporeon against a type-weak target, needless to say, I could not use this Machamp in battle. 50% chance of getting Karate Chop and 33% chance of getting Cross Chop. Even Stone Edge would have been acceptable, but getting Bullet Punch as the quick move is a kiss of death. There are more examples with my Muk, Magneton, etc., but one can see with the extreme rarity of these Pokemon and only one chance at evolution being reasonable for most trainers, it leaves trainers with no options after the evolution flops. Now, look at Vaporeon. Every Vaporeon has a 100% chance of getting Water Gun, the best water move (and among the top quick moves in general) in the game. Both Hydro Pump and Aqua Tail are fantastic options for attacking, so combine how common eevee is with a 100% chance of getting the correct quick move and a 66% chance of getting a good charge move and you have virtually guaranteed that people will have teams of Vaporeons instead of a diverse meta.Since I will not be getting another Alakazam, Machamp, or probably any of the other rare Pokemon I wanted to use, I feel as if I have no real choice as a trainer in what I use. I would be willing to use a sub-par Pokemon to liven up the game if I was given a somewhat serviceable moveset to work with, but I've been denied that. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cS93Ok
