"The spawn rate (rarity) on the Silph Road global pokedex is strongly biased"

#PokemonGO: While I enjoy all the information being included in the pokedex, the piece about spawn rate is way off due to the fact that this is a self-reported database. For example, there is no way that the spawn rate of a Snorlax is as high as 1/71 and be classified as 'Uncommon' while a Goldeen has a rate of 1/104 and is considered 'Rare'.People tend to report the more exciting findings like Snorlax, Dragonite and Charizard while they basically don't bother with submitting sightings about a commons like a Pidgey. This leads to a strong sampling bias when calculating the spawn rates without doing adjustments. One way is to use the spawn rates from the meta scanning data of millions of spawns, which has been datamined before. Or one can adjust the rates with properly projected weights... via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cOhWN6
