"What's with everyone saying it takes 150k stardust to bring a pokemon from level 20 to level 30?"
#PokemonGO: I decide to look into this because I wanted to know exactly how much stardust was necessary. Unless I messed up my math, it takes under 100k stardust (91k to be exact) to bring a pokemon from level 20 (hatched pokemon level for eggs acquired after hitting level 20) to level 31.5 (max for level 30).I don't have links to them, but I've seen several posts now stating that it takes 150k stardust to go from level 20-30. Even bumping that to level 31.5, and even if I added in two more power ups starting from level 19 (since it also costs 2500 stardust at that level), it is still under 100k stardust (96k).Level 20 stardust cost is 2500. Same for level 20.5. Then it bumps up at level 21 and uses each value 4 times to go through 2 levels, finally bumping up again at level 31 for one more power up (to leave it at level 31.5):Level 20-20.5: 2500 x 2Level 21-22.5: 3000 x 4Level 23-24.5: 3500 x 4Level 25-26.5: 4000 x 4Level 27-28.5: 4500 x 4Level 29-30.5: 5000 x 4Level 31: 6000In thousands, this is the same as:5 + 12 + 14 + 16 + 18 + 20 + 6 = 91Did I mess up somewhere?I did the math for levels 1 to 19.5 (ending up on level 20) and it totals to 45k. Could people accidentally be referring to level 1 to 31.5 when they say it'll take 150k? Even then, it's a bit of a jump to round from 136k to 150k.TL;DR (and conclusion)It only costs 91k star dust to bring a pokemon from level 20 (max level for hatched pokemon) to level 31.5 (max pokemon level for level 30 player). When people are saying 150k, I think they mean from level 1 to level 31.5, and even then, they are rounding 136k up to 150k. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cfCL1P
