"15 minute spawn timers are an unfortunate relic of the tracker"

#PokemonGO: tl;dr The 15 minute tracker made sense in the original game, but no longer makes sense in a tracker-less gameSpawn timer implementation has to balance two opposing requirements: Finding pokemon has to be feasible but not so easy that everyone in a 10 mile radius gets every rare.I argue that the 15 minute timer was specifically chosen to meet this criteria, but only with a tracking system in place.Players in the immediate vicinity are likely to find the pokemon, even with only 5 minutes left on the timer, if it can be tracked.Players not in the immediate vicinity will not find the pokemon, even with a reliable report on location, because transit simply takes too long. However, as many have learned, the removal of the tracker has steeply altered these dynamics. Now, only using non-ToS violating services, finding a pokemon in the immediate vicinity, even with a full 15 minutes, is difficult, and has a low % success rate.I'll try and link some of the threads that show some math on this when I'm not redditing at work (shame on me)I believe the 15 min spawn timer is a by-product of Niantic's intention to have an in-game tracking system.I believe the game in its current form would be better served by a longer spawn timer due to the difficulty of locating pokemon without a tracker.I believe this would actually be directly in line with Niantic's goals for the game, but this is of course pure speculation.Thoughts?edit: InB4 mass downvotes for suggestion making. The point of this thread isn't to tell Niantic what to do, it is to comment that the current spawn timer dynamics WERE NOT INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED THIS WAY, but are simply a byproduct of tracker removal. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2epAl16
