"Does anyone else wonder about very early botted accounts? The ones that survived the ban waves"
#PokemonGO: I don't know how effective the ban waves and new system are for stopping botting, but let's think about this in a 100% banrate scenario as it doesn't matter much for this topic. Assuming Niantic has solved the botting issue and nobody can do it anymore, what happens to the old botted accounts that people amassed or simply remained dormant for some period of time? Allow me to explain what I mean:Individual A botted 300 accounts in the first couple weeks the game launched. Bot control and detection was primitive at this point and it's likely thousands of accounts like these exist.Individual A just saved their account info in a .txt file or something, never logged in them again or botted them further than lvl 30-35 to avoid suspicion.Banwaves roll catching all active botters but these accounts from individual A have been on hold for weeks by now and are therefore never banned since they predate the bot/spoof prevention-focused patches.Fast forward to the present. Individual B buys a botted lvl 30-35 account for x bucks from Individual A.Even if they had weird names, everyone got the free rename option so they can be fixed by the buyers.Since individual B will likely use this as a backup account to catch multiple rares when he finds a spawn for when trading comes out or to fluff his gyms, he will not trigger spoof/bot prevention flags, it would merely look as if two people are playing on the same phone. The problem here is that unlike botting or spoofing, people using multiple accounts should on paper raise no alarming flags as they're being played legit now despite having been powerleveled prior. They're a small threat to trading and they sort of rig the gym metagame as individuals can fluff their own gyms to stay in them longer despite playing alone. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2dUGocN
