"Sniping - Any ideas on how to prevent it? I'm at the end of my rope"

#PokemonGO: I need some ideas, if anyone has them. I'm at the end of my rope with gym sniping and I'm running out of ideas.So I quit once before for 3 weeks because I got sniped by a 'friendly' player 5 times in a row - this was across 4 different gym excursions, with 4 different gyms, on 4 different days.I decided to come back and try to give it another shot. Much to my dismay, the new update (and I didn't think this was possible) actually made gym sniping even worse. Since someone can snipe you in between your battles while you're still fighting, it just makes it even easier for them. Long story short, Since coming back, I've leveled up a gym 8 times, and I've been sniped all 8. I'm at a 0% success rate.I don't think I've collected a single defender bonus in a solid week or two. I spent a ton of time leveling up defensive mons and it was a complete waste. I have 5x Dragonites at 3k+ and another at 2.9k. This isn't even considering the other top-tier mons that I've taken to lvl 33-34, or the 100+ Pokemon I evolved at low CP just to have en efficient prestige army.Here they are, collecting dust after all that grinding At this point, I'm so confused. Are these all botters? Or do these losers literally have nothing better to do than sit there with the app open and snipe gyms with a 20 second window when they see it being attacked? Nevermind the fact if they have that much time on their hands, why aren't they training it themselves? Here are the precautions I've taken for each of the 8 times I was sniped.1) I made sure to watch it for a few minutes to make sure no one was battling2) I made sure to walk around the gym 2-3 times to make sure there were no visible players within distance. If I saw someone, anyone, playing Pokemon, I walked away3) I tried to train as efficiently as possible. Each time I was able to get 700-900 prestige per Pokemon.4) I put '!!' in the name of the mons I used and sorted by name, so if I had to hit it a 2nd time, I wouldn't waste much time setting up team.5) I counted the prestige per victory and backed out the battle in which the gym was leveled up6) I attacked different gyms every time - trying to choose ones that were more remote. ....and all 8 times I was sniped by a 'friendly' player Honestly, this is completely ruining the game for me. I'm sick of wasting time and money on this game if this is all that's going to happen :(Does anyone have any ideas? I have no idea what else I could possibly do. The only thing I can think of is making a 2nd account on a different team, and if I get sniped on the level up, I'll just knock it back down and do it all over again.
