Essentially it's a breed that exists for show, like a trophy pet.In real life, Persian Cats are so disgustingly inbred for purebreeding purposes that they look like shit.They have severe hereditary health issues, flat snub-nosed faces, and were once not so ugly, at least before they started getting severely inbred.Ergo, Meowth and Person are to Alolan meowth and Alolan Persian as a Siamese Kitten and a Siamese Cat are to an old-school Persian, and a shitty modern persian.TL;DR Meowth and Persian are siamese cats.
