"TIL Bellsprout is the strongest Pokémon in gen one"
TL;DR - I got my shit wrecked by a single Bellsprout and now firmly believe that stunspore + wrap is the strongest possible attack combination.I just reached the Celadon City Gym in my replay of Blue and as I still didn't have a decent fire type, I decided to just go at it instead of grinding to level up a Vulpix. Plus I have a Kadabra and every grass type but Tangela is part poison. All going well until I come up against a particular Beauty with a Bellsprout. I had Pidgeotto up first for the exp, and he got hit by stun spore, lowering his speed enough for the Bellsprout to go first and trap bird-brain in an unending series of wrap attacks.I switched out to trusty Kadabra, but he got put to sleep, wrapped a thousand times, and then paralyzed, and wrapped a thousand more times. This cycle repeated for the rest of my team - in the best strategy I've ever seen the AI use, the Bellsprout would always open with stunspore or sleep powder, and use one or the other again if I cured it. A bit too late I realised I was being a dumbass and should just let someone die rather than switching them out, and my Ivysaur was finally able to knock the little bastard out with a critical hit bodyslam.Embarrassingly I had to limp back to the Pokécenter with all but one of my team asleep, paralyzed, or fainted.I have embraced a new found respect and fear for the mighty Flower Pokémon and vow never to underestimate its strength again. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2dmCavI
