"with the decline in players they can reinstate the 3-step"

#PokemonGO: Let me first off start by saying the original game and tracking system was pretty much flawless. I remember tracking down an Abara taking 10 steps in one location, then adjusting based on the refreshed 3-step locator. It made tracking a specific Pokemon in the wild somewhat energetic and satisfying. This Location based update system obviously had some issues because of the updating of user profiles and database table updates. (below is an elaboration of why these needed to be removed from the game) Niantic has done almost everything in their power, it seems to remove people from the game, this in combination of the initial viral decrease in users has brought us to a summer fling feeling with this phenomenon. Blocking scanners, when their own tracking doesn't work. Blocking rooted phones, so many people have rooted phones for so many reasons. Removing blackberry users (as few as there are) even when it runs android. Removing their own tracking system and trying to implement a crappier version. We have come to only the hardcore players, I cannot even get my friends to play anymore, and I am finding it difficult to play as well. The serious decrease in user base, as well winter is coming to NYC, all of Canada and several other countries the user base is 25% of what it was at it's peak. This should allow them to be able to reinstate the original tracking system (not to mention they have had 3 months and 500-million$$ to increase the server capacities). No reason to keep pretending the newly proposed tracker will bring people back, it's too late, just try to salvage the people you still have. Original reasons for the removal of the location and tracking systems bringing down the servers with insane network and database load: 1) Each catch contained the exact google map location and stamped it in the server and user profile. ISSUE: The GPS location stamp & google maps image, per player based on each users current location updating in the servers was far to much. This was removed to alleviate the surge of downloads and new players. This is more than acceptable IMO, it didn't really add anything to the game except more needless information flowing from the user to the server. Multiply this update to the server x 50 million users catching 40 million pokemon per second, than storing the exact location of each catch to the user profile... obviously this was not going to work. 2) the GPS refresh rate was every 3 seconds, this enabled the 3-step location based pokemon to be precise. Walk 10 feet and it would update the location of the user vs the geo-location of the pokemon around it. ISSUE: The continuous refresh rate of the individual user profile every 3 seconds, multiply by 40-50 million users around the world is 1000000000 updates a minute... I understand why they lowered this to 5 minutes currently 3) Code inefficiencies, they have cleaned up the code as well put in debugging code to send crash reports and information on the user actions before the crash. I just wish they left it the way it was and dealt with the server loads and optimize the original code. EDITED: Minor text updates & clarification of my original statement. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2e2lSaF
