"CP ranking system is the main killer of gym variety."

#PokemonGO: Ranking defenders by CP makes it so that anything with less than 2000 CP is functionally useless for earning coins. Sometimes even 2500 isn't enough. The trend had already begun before the recent gym update, and now it's gotten rather ridiculous.Poliwrath is the poster child for this phenomenon. It's an amazing defender on paper, but its relatively low CP will almost always force it to the bottom of a gym. In that position an attacker only has to beat it once (with 6 Pokémon!) to kick it out. Most Pokémon in the game fit into this category. They literally cannot attain the CP needed to stay in a gym for any significant amount of time. It's very discouraging.People want their coin rewards so they only care about being near the top. They will even kick out their own teammates with alt accounts, and steal their spot. There is no incentive in making a gym harder to beat by putting in a more diverse lineup. A coordinated group of attackers could easily wipe everything out regardless, so why even bother putting in "strong" defenders?As a result the gym meta has degenerated into what we see today. 8 Pokémon taking up at least 90% of gym slots, half of which aren't even great defenders. We are already seeing 10 Dragonite gyms pop up, which are easy to topple but boring as hell to fight against. This will inevitably be the final state of the endgame if nothing changes.I don't know what the solution is. Ranking by Pokémon level instead of CP? Or perhaps making "Battles Won" an actual relevant statistic? In any case it looks like my gym experience has come to an end as I can no longer keep up.
