"PSA - NOW is the best time ever to trade bad IV, rare Pokemon for extra candy. Don't miss out!"

#PokemonGO: Good morning Travelers,I've done a lot of trading in the past week and I have learned that many players do not yet grasp how good the current 'event' is for generating candy. It is, for example, at the very least better than transferring rare Pokemon for 2 (double) candy and at its best it is 3 times better than any double candy event.I think the reason players are overlooking the current benefits is that the bonuses are counter-intuitive. By this I mean: you should not necessarily be trading for Pokemon that you want; instead you should be trying to generate candy for Pokemon that you want to power up.Let’s walk through a common example. You have hatched or caught a Larvitar but it has forgettable IVs –bummer, right? Rather than transfer it away you have held on to it, hoping to get double candy for it during an event (or maybe you just forgot to transfer it so it’s sitting there, waiting). Meanwhile, your friend is trying to hatch an Alolan Vulpix but their most recent 7km egg from out of town hatches and... it’s an Alolan Meowth. Again. Bummer, right? No, my friend, this is not a bummer. This is an excellent opportunity. You can now trade your average Larvitar to your friend for their out-of-town-Meowth. YOU will get SIX Larvitar candy + a (possibly Lucky) Alolan Meowth and your friend will get six Meowth candy + a possibly Lucky Larvitar. Both of you will get something good out of the trade and all for the bargain price of 75 stardust. In your case, that’s only 12.5 Stardust per Larvitar candy!I’m sure some of you will be quick to point out, “But the_kevlar_kid, my friends don’t have many Pokemon from out-of-town! Your idea is garbage! DOWNVOTESSSSSsssss!” OK. Point taken. But consider the following: You can still trade all your bad IV Beldum, Bagon, Ralts, Snorlax, Larvitar etc. to any friend for any of their Beldum, Bagon, Ralts etc. and you will both get TWO FOUR candy for every single Pokemon you trade away, REGARDLESS OF WHERE IT WAS CAUGHT. It is, at the bare minimum, better than getting double candy for transferring to Professor Willow ever was. This is really important because we just had a double candy event and, as you all know, we did not get double candy for transferring. The era of transferring rares for double candy may be over. But the era of trading is upon us, and it can be even more lucrative.I encourage you to take a look at your inventory and identify all the Pokemon you want to generate more candy for. If you have bad IV versions of those ‘mon, this is absolutely the time to get rid of them for 4, 5 or even 6 candy. I traded a bad Kyogre yesterday to an Ultra Friend for a Pidgey! At first one might think I was out of my mind and getting a terrible deal. But that Pidgey was caught 100km north of me and I got SIX Kyogre candy for 1200 stardust. That is a bargain, as good as getting six rare candy from a raid and certainly easier than walking a Kyogre for 120km. I also got credit on my trading medal, credit on my Pilot medal and then transferred the Pidgey away, which freed up a slot in my inventory. There are a lot of benefits!Reframe how you look at trading fellow Travelers and you’ll reap the rewards. Thanks for reading and Happy Hunting! via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2OBcZ92
