#PokemonGO: So it's been around 6 hours since the update, and I can already see some striking changes in my town. To give the context, my town, in the Tokyo greater area, has around 350000 people and 60 gyms. Mystic has always been the dominant team, with the most people and a lot of hardcore players. Valor (where I am) was next, and Instinct was the minority. After a lot of struggles, Valor managed to hold around 15 level 10 gyms while Mystic had around 30 permanent gyms. In the town center, there was constant fightings amongst the 3 teams, with level 10 gyms being built and destroyed, always changing colors. Mystic and Instinct were also using bubblestrat, Valor wasn't. I was usually soloing one or two level 10 mystic gyms every day (level 33 player). Now, 6 hours after the update, almost all level 10 gyms in town have disappeared. I played my part by 6 level 7 blue gyms and 5 level 10 blue gyms. Some areas that had long been Mystic strongholds, one being a small parc with 4 gyms packed together, had been completely razed by other people. Some points after this update :Destroying a level 10 gym is incredibly quick now. Only 20~30 min depending of the strength of the gym. Of course, far less potions to use.It shows that the player potential was always there, but not many people were actually trying to destroy level 10 gyms. I was one of the most aggressive players. The reduced time to take down a gym finally made them act.No point trying to build gyms now. It's bound to be destroyed so fast it would be a waste of time. I opened a spot prestiging from 18000 to 20000 in a remote gym against a Lapras, the nerf was quite painful.People are already shifting defenders from Dragonite to Snorlax. Power creep doesn't make any sense now. At best you can hope to waste the attacker's time, but he's going to win anyway.Dumping trash pokemon is getting popular too since defending is pointless.Have seen names I never saw before, or some that I hadn't seen for weeks. The "non elite" players are enjoying gyms again at least. I don't mind that.Instinct is having a field day, they took over a lot of already destroyed gyms. Doesn't really matter, they'll be wiped during somebody's gym rush (and that person will also be wiped by an another one).Last week end, Mystic launched a massive coordinated attack on Valor and wiped most of our gyms (Valor has no teamplay nor social group). They had already replaced many of our gyms with theirs during the day. I can't hide that it's satisfying to see that all their efforts went to nothing with this update. Sure, it's not a "fair and square" victory since we were helped by the update, but most of this was bubblestrated anyway and they had the population advantage.I always focused more on attack than defense, and kept 9 attackers (Dragon Breath Dragonites, Lapras and so on) maxed to level 34.5 in spite of the diminushing returns, while i only maxed 7 defenders. Now that the scale has massively shifted to attack, I don't regret it.I won't build anymore, back to daily gym rush. I liked controlling a territory, but these last weeks I was only doing gym fights on my PoGo time, no more hunting or nest farming since I felt we would lose the gym race otherwise. Now I feel I get more freedom again, there isn't any gym race anymore. Did you see similar changes in your town ? How do you cope with the new system ?edit:I feel that Niantic overdid it though. Keeping the old prestige system, with a bubblestrat fix for battles a low CP, would have been fine given the current attacker bonuses. Now I don't see any gym above level 3 in town. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2fxVe9a
