"Parasect is the best prestiger in the game"

#PokemonGO: Most already probably know this, but I want to underline how useful Parasect is as a generalist aswell as a specific counter to individual Pokémon. This is particularly useful in high level (7-9) gyms where a more diverse set of Pokémon means you can't always optimise prestigers for every Pokémon. What makes parasect amazing is that it is extremely effective against the vast majority of common defenders!Vaporeon: Extremely effective, Parsect resists water type moves. Bug bite is a high DPS neutral move with STAB and solar beam provides a devastating STAB super effective move.Exeggutor: Parasect super resists grass attacks! Bug bite is a super effective, high dps, STAB move. Solar beam is a high damage STAB move (although X-Scissor is a better move choice against this).Poliwrath: Parasect resists water and fighting attacks! Bug bite provides the high DPS neutral move, whist solar beam lands super effective.Slowbro: Parasect resists water attacks. Again bug bite is a strong neutral move and solar beam is super effective.Rhydon: Parsect resists one of Rhydon's quick moves and only one charged move lands super effective with STAB (another is resisted). Solar beam is double effective against Rhydon.Alakazam: Parasect hits super effective STAB with bug bite. Alakazam will not hit Parasect super effecrtively.Snorlax: Parasect resists the earthquake moveset and is not hit super effectively by snorlax. Despite this, snorlax has no obvious counter; parasect performs perfectly adequately.Lapras: Although parasect is once weak against ice, and does not hit super effective with its quick move it does still boast a super effective STAB charged move in solar beam. Lapras will heavily damage parasect, but parasect returns the favour and will very quickly take lapras down.Gyarados: Obviously not an ideal choice, but in an emergency parasect is functional. It resists Gyarados's only STAB move while providing high STAB neutral damage with solar beam. A good backup so you don't have to fill your lineup with too many electric pokemon. The only common gym defenders Parasect doesn't work against are Dragonite and the fire duo (Arcanine and Flareon). Nevertheless in most ordinary gyms you can fill your lineup with 3 parasects, 1 electric type, 1 ice type, 1 water type and 80% of the time come out very well. The ice will also function against exeggutor, water also hits rhydon and electric can be used against water/lapras in an emergency. If all that wasn't enough, parasect has almost an ideal CP for high efficiency prestiging particularly after the update. Its HP is also low enough such that it can be easily healed with potions. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2fkqVXW
