"The reason behind the Amazon delays, and what you can do about it."
I'm going to start and say that I don't work at Amazon, but the information I have is a mix of what a friend of mine who does work at Amazon says, and what I've been told by reps. I've also been camping around the various topics about this for information. What's HappeningSome people are reporting that their copies of Sun & Moon have been delayed until the 22nd. This is because there is an Amazon-specific* shortage on these games.* Some other retailers seem to be having shortages too, but this strictly seems to be in-store at more rural locations. (My local GameStop is having a supply/demand issue, for example.)Who It's Happening ToIt varies from warehouse to warehouse (so it's location-based), but it seems like most people who ordered their game before October are fine. I've seen one person with a pre-order from May that's been delayed, but otherwise most people with delayed orders are saying they ordered in late October or early November. Why It's HappeningTwo reasons, basically. First is supply and demand. Pokemon Sun & Moon are Nintendo's most pre-ordered title ever. So needless to say, a LOT of people are wanting this game, which means that Amazon's initial stock has run out. No problem, they can just order more, right? Normally, yes. However, from what my friend has just told me, this is where the ultimate problem of this whole situation is. And I quote, "We're over 100% inventory right now. Literally all but 2 buildings in the network metaphorically hit the 'No More Trucks' Button." So basically, all but two Amazon warehouses in the entire country are accepting anything, when the first batch are shipped out. This is why there are delays. (And note, this shortage is applying to a lot more than games. The warehouses are out of room, and until some more holiday sales go by to get rid of stock, warehouses will not be accepting any items.)What You Can DoReally, you only have two options. Wait until Monday to get your game if it was delayed and enjoy that wonderful sale price, or cancel your pre-order and go to a local retailer like Walmart or GameStop. Since this is an Amazon-sided issue, most places should have copies on release day. The only stores I know of that have had issues were my local store, but it's a small, rural location, and this is common for a lot of game releases. If you decide to keep your order through Amazon though, you can contact customer service if you wish. However, I'm not sure if they'll do anything about it at this point. If you're nice about it, they might give you an extension on your Prime (which seems to be what most people are reporting) or something, but with this being a fairly widespread issue, they may not anymore. All I can stress now is to be nice when you contact them. Don't call and be that customer. They're busy as hell. Most employees are working 12 hour shifts right now because of the holidays. Treat others how you would like to be treated and be grateful that they have such amazing customer support to begin with.A Note About PricingSo, what I'd like to add to this for people curious, is the whole pricing issue. The game is $40, but if you pre-ordered it for a certain period of time it was $32 which is super awesome. The issue however is that some people aren't getting the 20% off Prime discount for new games ontop of the sale price of $32. Some reps (the one I spoke to included) has stated that the discounts do stack and will be applied at checkout. However, now that people are getting their accounts charged, the 20% discount isn't going through. I contacted support and they gave me the discount on all three games ordered on my account, however, some people are reporting that the rep they spoke to couldn't do anything about the price. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with this, but all I can say is that if you do call, please be nice and respectful towards your representative. If they can grant you the stacking discount, awesome! Enjoy it! If they can't, just remember that you're still getting the game at a discount. Be grateful you aren't paying full retail price and call it a day.I hope this helps clear up some information. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll try and help out. I'm just hoping this will help the constant spamming of "OHNOES MY ORDER WAS DELAYED!!1!" posts. (Mods, feel free to sticky it if you want.) via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2fiCSsR
