"IVs do not seem to have a massive effect on Pokemon stats"
#PokemonGO: This might be common knowledge, but since everyone seems to be pretty obsessed with their pokemons' IVs, I thought it might not be. Just going by the data on http://ift.tt/29NdzwX, the difference between a 15/15/15 'mon and a 0/0/0 one is surprisingly small.Take a level 20 Gengar, for example. Pokeassistant tells us that the best possible one has:ATK 276, DEF 171, STA 135, CP 1496, and HP 80 Meanwhile the worst possible Gengar would have:ATK 261, DEF 156, STA 120, CP 1274, and HP 71 That's about a 10% drop off in each individual stat, and about 15% in combat power. Which is a lot, but again, we're comparing a 15/15/15 pokemon to a 0/0/0 one here. So if you're comparing a 70% perfect pokemon to an 82% one, the difference in stats is going to be incredibly small. The implications of this are twofold. The obvious is that move-set is much much more important than IVs within a certain range, to your pokemon's effectiveness in battle anyway. But beyond that, I also find it to be a better use of resources to evolve my highest level pokemon, unless their stats are truly atrocious, as opposed to evolving lower level pokemon with better IVs and spending valuable Stardust to level them up.I understand that a lot of people just like to have high IVs, and that perfect IV pokemon are still really cool and sought after. And I have no desire to police how other people enjoy the game. But the obsession with high, non-100% IVs seems, to me, unwarranted, so I thought I would drop this tidbit of information. But if I am wrong, or if this is already common knowledge, please let me know. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2i7rilB
