"Reporting Cheaters Research"

#PokemonGO: How to report a cheater to Niantic:Offical Support PageClick on Submit a request in the top right (above the search bar)Select Report Inappropriate GameplayFollow the prompts from on the report page There is a couple in my area that must be in control of the local gyms at all times. The desperation has lead to constant and predictable GPS spoofing. This seemed like an opportunity to not only potentially get rid of a cheater, but also see what exactly it takes to get Niantic to listen and take action. With each cheating report on their 5 (possibly 6) accounts, I've been looking in to methods to further prove someone is cheating. This has been my primary tool: Timeline of action (date, time of day each gym attack occurs)Supporting screenshotsName of Gym, Location, and Google Map coordinatesStakeouts / Bait gymsAnother person recording the spoofing event at the gym Timeline is the easiest. Assuming Niantic keeps some kind of log of travel activity for each account (a big assumption, I'm afraid...) then bringing their attention to players that travel at ridiculously fast speeds could potentially result in a ban. A recent new cheater to my area moved between 3 gyms in 8 minutes. The two gyms on the far end of my view are in graveyards that do not allow cars after dark. Walking to the gym is a minimum 5 minutes one way. This player jumped from a far gym to the central in a minute, then to the opposite side a minute after taking the center gym, and then back again to the central gym a minute later (total not including gym attack/training time). This was so unreasonably fast that it would be impossible to do by car even with no traffic. Screenshots support the timeline. Most phones will show their clock in the screenshot of a gym. Shots of the attack animation on the gym and a few shots of the prestige dropping and when the cheater adds a Pokemon are an excellent help and provide an aid for accurately writing up the cheating report. Make sure the name of the gym is included, the city it is located in, and get approximate coordinates from google maps.On Google Maps, click the map in the area approximately where the gym is. This should give you coordinates like this: 38.690667, -121.326026. This way there shouldn't be any doubt which gym you are reporting if Ninantic will look in to it. If you can, find a way to record yourself by the landmark the gym is attached to while the gym is being attacked. Show the area around it to confirm no one is there. If you're staking out a cheater, use a gym with a big open space around it to easily identify no one is there. Having other gyms that will be taken nearby helps as well because you can confirm impossibly fast travel speeds. The upload option on the report page may not support videos. A youtube account may be useful. Set mine up just before posting this to host the videos. First experiment in videos:Video 1Video 2 This will be the 5th time I have reported these accounts since 11/25 (currently 12/4). It's a waiting game combine with repeatedly reporting them to see if Niantic takes any action. I've caught a few other cheaters in the process as well, but they're less reliable and harder to catch in the act. Any suggestions on addition cheater reporting tools? Perhaps posting to Ninantic's Twitter/Facebook? There is also a "Someone confirmed they were cheating" option on the report page that I believe was added recently. Any thoughts on how seriously that selection will be taken when reporting a cheater? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2gpJZjW
