"Thank you, Game Freak, for adding a diverse set of trainers"

Practically everyone in Gens I-IV were pale-skinned, which I understood. Game Freak and Pokemon are Japanese. Heck, the first four regions in Pokemon were based on real parts/places of Japan. I accepted it, and it wasn't something I really thought about. Then came Gen V, and with it came Lenora, Marlon, Marshal, and Iris. For the first time, we had gym leaders and a champion who were darker skinned! (An argument could be made for Phoebe being the real first, but I digress.) The dancer and smasher trainer class were neat to see, too. I was so happy that they made a diverse, New York-inspired region. Later, Gen VI brought the sky trainers, rangers and rising star classes into the fold. We also got Olympia and Grant as gym leaders. Then there's Alola. Honestly, I was blown away. There were two darker skin colors for the *MC trainer! I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like every other trainer is darker skinned! Sure, maybe it was a given because of Alola being based on Hawaii, but I am SO PSYCHED. I didn't expect it at all. Even the professor of the region and our rival! SO HAPPY.Apologies if this has been mentioned before. I searched for a thread, but I couldn't find any. Anyways, thanks, Game Freak. I think it's awesome. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2gEhT7B
