"Gen 7 - The Great, The Good, and the Meh"
I guess you could say this is a review of Generation 7. First of all, for anyone who cares, my team consisted of Primarina, Lunala, Salazzle, Magnezone, Hariyama and Snorlax by the time I became Alola's 20 millionth champion. Anyway, overall, here's my thoughts:Story - 8.5/10The characters were charming, the progression of Lillie as a character in particular, and the conflict between the characters seemed genuine. Team Skull is my favourite evil team because of that sweetspot combination of intimidation and insanity that Guzma gives off, and Lusamine is so strange that she's amazing. I would have liked a bit more fleshing out of Ultra Space aside from 'This is where the Ultra Beasts live', though.Gameplay- 9.5/10I hope I don't have to explain what makes this game so good. First of all, the 360 degree movement rather than the 8 directions of X and Y. Ride Pokemon were integrated seamlessly as a replacement for HMs (aside from Machamp and Mudsdale maybe) and the trials were all unique. (I'm a sucker for Stoutland, so I'm a bit biased towards Mallow's trial when talking of my favourite, in terms of both trials and Ride Pokemon) However, it loses that mythical 1/2 due to it's low difficulty. Truth be told, I used the Exp. Share, and even then trainers were constantly matching my Pokemon, but I blacked out a total of 4 times, from start to finish, (and trust me, I'm not very good at Pokemon games).Music - 8/10While I've heard better (Red and Blue because of pure nostalgia for a game I shouldn't have nostalgia for, considering I didn't play it growing up or anything of the sort), I've shifted from my previous opinion of 7/10 and have decided, that, overall, it's alright. There are forgettable and bland low points, but I can't ignore the sick Team Skull beats, and the Aether music.Pokemon - 8.5/10I adore most of the new monsters (special mentions to the starters, Toucannon and Bewear) but my main gripe is the small number of new mons compared to certain other generations. It's not as bad as Gen 6 in that regard but compared to, say, Gen 1, which was obviously 151, this only had 81, just more than half.Final VerdictsSo, is it good? Duh, of course it is! Play it if you haven't, and I'll be training up to complete that charming little Rotom Dex for ages to come. What did you think of it? I have an irrational desire for other peoples opinions a la WatchMojo (otherwise known as YouTube's new Buzzfeed), so I want to know. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2iohllc
