"GPS drift between versions 0.51 and 0.53"

#PokemonGO: One of the 0.53 update changes is "Changed distance tracking to better account for GPS drift". Most of us assume that this means we get less kilometers by sitting at home, so i decided to test this. My setup is fairly simple. I let my phone "playing" the game in my room. It has been >1m away from the window and the curtain was closed the whole time.Version 0.53: "playing" between 20:36 and 03:36 km got: 4.81 (average speed: 0.69 km/h)Version 0.51: "playing" between 03:51 and 09:28 km got: 1.57 (average speed: 0.28 km/h)I wasn't connected to wifi and didn't have a go+ or apple watch connected. I used apkmirror to download both apk's.I have let my phone "play" the game before while at home, as i'm sure many of you have, and i have been getting fluctuating results, meaning sometimes i would get more distance then other times. Anyway the results i've gotten for the 0.53 update are pretty consistent with what i remember for good days on 0.51 or lower. My cautious hypothesis is that gaining km's while inside by gps drift is not nerfed. The statement niantic made might have to do with GPS drift while fighting a gym, since such data was found in the apk mine. It would be nice if others could test this out and compare itas well. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jYRm39
