"Is a Primeape completely useless? Are there any good fighting Pokemon?"

#PokemonGO: I had two Primeapes with good stats, best movesets and ~1500 CP and ~1600 CP. Both of them together, with some amount of dodging still couldn't take out a ~2500-2800 Snorlax. The whole fight timed out.I know Snorlax is like a tank, but event two fighting Pokemon couldn't take it down when Snorlax has a type weakness to fighting?Are there any good fighting type Pokemon at all when it comes to gyms? Any specifically usable against Snorlax? I'm considering transferring them all.Edit: I didn't know anything about Pokemon before PoGo (except what Pikachu looks like).
