"Training against Lapras, CP efficiency"
#PokemonGO: There's a TL;DR section in the middle of this post, right after the first tableIf you've already read my previous threads on CP efficiency for Snorlax, Gyarados, Vaporeon, or Exeggutor, skip the intro and go to the next section on Lapras.Intro to CP efficiencyThe spreadsheets from Professor_Kikui, qmike, and dneal12 and various infographics you may have seen around here are based on performance at the same level, e.g. how a level 30 Wartortle performs versus a level 30 Vaporeon. They show that Vaporeon is much stronger. For training/prestiging a gym, CP is essential, as the amount of prestige gained depends on the CP of your attackers. For example, a team of 1100 CP attackers against a 2200 CP defender nets 1000 prestige. (See my other thread: 1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficient)At 1100 CP, Vaporeon is around level 12, while a Wartortle is around level 30. When these two Pokemon are at the same CP, Wartortle is actually slightly stronger. The most important stat for choosing Pokemon to train a gym is CP efficiency, a Pokemon's strength per CP. In the below tables, I've listed CP efficiency as a percentile, relative to the best Pokemon for that defender's moveset other than Chansey. Since Chansey takes so long to battle and can time out, I don't want to skew the percentiles by basing them on her.LaprasCPE - CP efficiency, calculated as a weighted average against all six of Lapras's movesets. Weights are based on the A-F defender ratings from GamePress, e.g. Ice Shard / Ice Beam has a weight of 6 while Frost Breath / Blizzard has a weight of 4. Weighted average is not much different from simple average.DPS - Damage per second, as a percentile relative to the best performerMax CP - Max CP at level 30The below columns represent the CP efficiency against some of Lapras's movesets:Ice - Ice Shard / Ice Beam. Blizzard, because it's also ice, performs almost identicallyDragon - Ice Shard / Dragon Pulse. The Frost Breath movesets perform almost identically to the Ice Shard movesets, as they're both ice attacks. You can see all the movesets in the spreadsheet.Pro tip: you can sort columns by clicking on the headerpokemonbasicchargecpedpsicedragonmax cpSlowpokeWater GunPsychic98%51%100%93%1,032JigglypuffPoundBody Slam96%60%95%100%611SlowpokeConfusionPsychic92%48%94%88%1,032TentacruelPoison JabSludge Wave91%51%93%86%2,034WigglytuffPoundHyper Beam91%69%89%94%1,634SlowbroWater GunPsychic90%55%92%86%2,127JigglypuffPoundPlay Rough89%56%87%93%611TentacruelPoison JabHydro Pump89%50%91%84%2,034SeelWater GunAqua Tail89%40%91%84%770DrowzeePoundPsychic88%47%89%88%850OmastarRock ThrowRock Slide88%67%90%84%2,301OmastarWater GunRock Slide88%67%90%83%2,301OnixRock ThrowStone Edge88%53%86%91%859NinetalesEmberFire Blast86%56%88%82%1,849LickitungLickHyper Beam86%49%86%86%1,133SlowpokeWater GunPsyshock85%44%87%81%1,032NinetalesFeint AttackFire Blast85%55%87%81%1,849SlowbroConfusionPsychic85%52%87%81%2,127OmastarMud ShotRock Slide85%64%87%80%2,301ArcanineFire FangFire Blast84%72%85%79%2,434VoltorbSparkThunderbolt83%76%83%83%734SlowpokeConfusionPsyshock83%43%85%79%1,032LickitungZen HeadbuttHyper Beam83%47%83%83%1,133KabutopsMud ShotStone Edge83%76%84%78%2,158DrowzeeConfusionPsychic82%44%82%82%850WartortleWater GunHydro Pump82%51%84%78%1,135WartortleBiteHydro Pump82%51%84%78%1,135ArcanineBiteFire Blast82%70%84%78%2,434BlastoiseWater GunHydro Pump82%51%84%78%1,964BlastoiseBiteHydro Pump82%51%84%78%1,964LaprasFrost BreathDragon Pulse82%37%86%73%2,555Nidoran FPoison StingSludge Bomb82%57%82%82%631TentacruelAcidSludge Wave82%46%84%78%2,034DewgongFrost BreathBlizzard82%34%85%73%1,624ElectrodeSparkThunderbolt82%77%82%81%1,628SnorlaxLickHyper Beam82%51%82%81%2,876VaporeonWater GunHydro Pump81%51%83%77%2,706HypnoZen HeadbuttPsychic81%50%81%81%1,755OnixRock ThrowRock Slide81%49%80%84%859LaprasIce ShardDragon Pulse81%37%84%72%2,555WigglytuffPoundPlay Rough81%61%79%84%1,634NinetalesEmberFlamethrower81%52%82%76%1,849NidorinaPoison StingSludge Bomb80%57%80%80%1,044TentacruelAcidHydro Pump80%45%82%76%2,034VulpixEmberFlamethrower80%53%82%76%663SeelLickAqua Tail80%36%82%76%770DewgongIce ShardBlizzard80%33%84%71%1,624MewPoundSolar Beam80%66%80%79%2,649PsyduckWater GunCross Chop80%65%81%76%828PoliwrathMud ShotSubmission80%52%81%76%2,093NinetalesFeint AttackFlamethrower80%51%81%75%1,849MoreTL;DRWigglytuff is the best practical choice. It's also the best all-purpose trainer, regardless of type.Tentacruel ranks as highly as Wigglytuff but has a lower DPS. Its water typing resists ice, and unlike many other water types, it has strong non-water attacks (poison) that aren't resisted by Lapras. Slowbro, Omastar, Kabutops have similar type advantages.Ninetales is the highest ranked fire type, but Arcanine is just a few points behind while having a significantly higher DPS. Pokebattler suggests that Arcanine is actually better. Arcanine's Fire Fang is also a faster attack than Ninetales's Ember, and easier to dodge with.Electric types are mediocre. The best is Electrode, followed by Raichu, Electabuzz, Jolteon, in that order.Chansey is theoretically the best (186%), but will time out, so I have removed her from the table above, but you can see her in the spreadsheet. The CP efficiency formula doesn't take into account time limits.Slowpoke is theoretically excellent, but its low Max CP at level 30 of only 1032 limits its use. Jigglypuff, Seel, and Drowzee suffer from this problem to an even greater degree.SpreadsheetView only, or make a copyIncludes full list of all Pokemon attackers, and more defenders (work in progress).PokebattlerI simulated some battles (spreadsheet) using /u/celandro's Pokebattler.defattattattattattattattattLaprasWigglytuffWigglytuffTentacruelTentacruelNinetalesArcanineArcanineChanseyBasicIce ShardPoundPoundPoison JabPoison JabEmberFire FangFire FangPoundChargeIce BeamHyper BeamHyper BeamSludge WaveSludge WaveFire BlastFire BlastFire BlastHyper BeamCP250012501250125012501250125012501250HP40019319310010097102102375StrategyDodge SpecialsDodge AllDodge SpecialsDodge AllDodge AllDodge SpecialsDodge AllQuick & SpecialWinNoYesNoYesNoNoYesNoDamage received193187100769710296375Att HP remain060240060Att HP remain %0%3%0%24%0%0%6%0%Time (seconds)3557.847.578.378.030.757.579.2Prestige625100067110009394981000772Prestige/s17.8617.3014.1312.7712.0416.2217.399.75Prestige/damage3.245.356.7113.169.684.8810.422.06Power62.5%111.5%67.1%133.2%93.9%49.8%114.0%77.2%Victories*63.756.694.037.995.632.996.844.63Lapras is a tough defender. Just using the Dodge Specials strategy, all of the attackers faint. Dodge All wins for most attackers.Dodge All is the best strategy overall. For Wigglytuff and Tentacruel, Dodge Specials is slightly more time-efficient but only with a few seconds of battle time difference, and at the cost of potion-efficiency. With Arcanine, Dodge All is both faster and uses fewer potions.Although Ninetales is ranked higher than Arcanine in the CP efficiency tables above, Pokebattler shows that she can't defeat Lapras in one battle even with Dodge All, while Arcanine can. I can only attribute this discrepancy to rounding incurred in battle, which can compound significantly. More battles at different CPs may produce different results.Chansey times out with all strategies except Quick & Special (no dodge), with which she faints.Power is a Pokebattler result that "represents how many times a Pokemon would kill another. 250% means it would kill it 2 times and then die half way through the 3rd attempt."Victories*6 multiples Power by 6, and represents how many defenders you would defeat if you had an attacking team of 6. Of course in real life, the defenders will get progressively harder, and you might run into a Snorlax.Losing a battle is not a total failure, as you can bring a team of 6, so I've scaled the prestige earned for those defeats to the Power value. For example, if an attacker is only able to bring down 50% of the defender's HP, it effectively only earns 500 prestige for each of those attackers you use; if you use 2 of the same attacker, then you would defeat the defender and gain 1000 prestige. The prestige/s and prestige/damage calculations take into account that it would take twice as long, and twice as much damage.CreditsThis is based on /u/vlfph's excellent CP efficiency v4 spreadsheet, using the Target Input sheet. All the credit should go to him; I'm simply repackaging his work in a more digestible format.Further researchI look forward to feedback. I'm currently working on other popular defenders like Rhydon and Dragonite. I'll take your comments into consideration before I publish those results.See alsoTraining against Snorlax, CP efficiencyTraining against Gyarados, CP efficiencyTraining against Vaporeon, CP efficiencyTraining against Exeggutor, CP efficiency1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficientTL;DRThere's a TL;DR section in the middle of this post, right after the first table via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2j1XIkO
