"How to consistently gain 1k+ prestige per minute."
#PokemonGO: BackgroundI'm a level 35 player who concentrates on maintaining a gym 'empire', my Ace trainer/Battle girl ratio is above 3 but in recent times I barely ever attack enemy gyms while I train regularly and aggressively more than 1k per minute. I have reverse soloed a gym in under an hour and will typically train a level 2 gym to level 8 in 20-30 minutes. I've also actively trained level 3-5 gyms against attackers and won (added more prestige per second than removed). My aim here is to share my method for aggressive training in the hope people will benefit from that.Dodging strategyDodge everything. This may sound counterproductive if the aim is for a quick train, but it allows you to use more fragile attackers (see next section) that do superior dps to the likes of Raticate or Wigglytuff. I do not, however, wait for a charged attack (with some exceptions such as twister gyarados) before I use my own as this wastes a lot of potential to use more charged attacks (and thus is more time consuming). This does result in taking the full blast of charged attacks occasionally however it is rare enough that this is still a very viable way of playing particularly since you get a long warning time for the heaviest of the charged attacks (such as hyper beam). But yes, occasionally you will get hit by water pulse.(edit: remembered this) Switching strategyKeep your current mon until the next battle (where you intend to switch). Add in 2 or 3 attacks then dodge the first two attacks and quickly switch out. Dodge again just before your new mon arrives and you will take the reduced damage. The exception to this is if you have a full charge bar (I recommend not using full charge on a nearly dead mon) and the original mon is not weak against the new defender. In this case use your charged attack after the two initial defender attacks before you switch out.TeamThe purpose of the team is for it to be tanky enough that it doesn't completely crumble under attack, but have high damage output while taking account of type. The team should also not be unrealistically difficult to obtain. As a further benefit if the team is versatile and multipurpose such that mons work well against different defenders that is a bonus. Further, these mons are efficient in terms of potion use and are quite low maintance compared to wigglytuff for example. With this in mind my main team consists of: Parasect (BB/SB), Golduck (WG/HP), Raichu(S/T) and Dewgong (FB/B). I also keep VW/SB tangela around when I find them and X parasect for exeggutor.I've talked about parasect before here (http://ift.tt/2jEQ6Ss), the upshot is it is a very versatile prestiger that exploits type advantages of common gym defenders excellently. BB as a move (much like WG) allows you to maximise damage output between dodging. Raw dps doesn't take into account how easy it is to become proficient at hitting in between dodges; BB is particularly good at this. For example I can consistently hit BB 4 times against a Vaporeon and up to 6 times against a Rhydon before dodging. FB and S are also moves that make it easy to incorporate dodging.People sometimes recommend Wigglytuff or Raticate. I have tried using them; it takes much longer to knock down common gym opponents (such as Vaporeon) even without dodging. I have had little or no luck with these mons; in fact at the end of an evo grind when I was running low on potions I tried using raticate of a similar CP to my parasect; the result was a timeout! While a 1200CP parasect could compete with a 2900 Vaporeon, a 1200CP raticate could not.Below is a summary of what to use the team against and some secondary uses (which are useful if you miscalculate the number of mons to add to the team).Golduck (WG/HP)Primary: Snorlax, Any fire type, Golem, Machamp, RhydonSecondary:Raichu(S/T)Primary: GyaradosSecondary: Vaporeon, Lapras, DragoniteParasect (BB/SB)Primary: Vaporeon, Lapras, Exeggutor (use X)Secondary: Rhydon, Snorlax, Gyarados, most uncommonsDewgong(FB/B)Primary: DragoniteSecondary: Exeggutor, RhydonOne way you can use this primary/secondary list is to prioritize prestigers. For example lets say there is a level 9 gym with 8 vaporeon and 1 rhydon. The best choice would be 6 parasect which are primary prestigers against Vaporeon and secondary prestigers against the single rhydon.Quitting strategyI always try to work my way through a gym from bottom to top, efficiency losses from this are more than compensated by healing/scrolling time afterwards. The exception is Lapras/Snorlax. Only engage either of these two mon if there are a lot of easy mons above them. If snorlax, for example, occupies the 2nd position in a level 8 gym then I would stop before engaging it, but if it was the 6th position then I probably would engage it.CP levelMy training team has mons that are of the CP 1000-1300 with 1200-1250 seemingly about the sweet spot. This is low enough such that you get the full 1000 prestige on most defenders (apart from bottom mons most are 2.5k+) but with the task not being overly difficult. I find that even if you are quite a bit below the 1/2 CP point you are still generally more efficient than trying to go for mons in the 1400-1500CP range which will start to loose a lot of potential prestige in a high level gym.Why not have more than 1 team? I do try to do that, but you will find if you are training a lot of gyms quickly that there is an efficiency gain for a team of the right CP to work well almost universally.Favourite your prestigersAnd nothing else. The auto selector prioritizes favourites so it may already select 4/6 mons correctly for you which saves time. If you spend more time attacking this may not be wise, but if you spend a lot of time training then keep a small set of 12-15 good prestigers favorited and order by HP when you want to attack an enemy gym.Keep prestigers fully healed, let everything else faintYou will be surprised how much time this saves, and again it helps the autoselector choose your mons. Again if you spend a lot of time attacking enemy gyms then it may not be wise; but if your goal is building up friendly gyms then this is a massive time saver.Conclusion/motivationI find very aggressive training is the best way to hold more gyms; if someone knocks down one of your level 10 gyms and its back to level 8 within half an hour then its very demotivating to those that attack it; after you have done this 2-3 times they tend to stop bothering! Also I recommend that you train gyms even if you are already in them; by offering free slots and repairing damage you motivate your own team and keep them active while demotivating enemy teams. Effectively you reduce the active population of enemy teams while slowing the process in your own; over time turnover goes down! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2kskt2R
