"[Idea] Areas of the Overworld Map Assigned as Habitats, Designated by Colors and/or Topographical Feature Icons, to Denote Which Pokémon Could Potentially Spawn There"
#PokemonGO: I find the concept of biomes to be very vague and unintuitive as it is now in Pokémon GO. Which makes me think of back in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Pokémon could be listed based on their habitats. These habitats included Grassland, Forest, Water's-edge, Sea, Cave, Mountain, Rough-terrain, Urban, and Rare. Thus, similarly, I wish that the Pokémon GO overworld map had various colors and topographical features to denote certain habitat areas, and each habitat area had a list of Pokémon that could possibly spawn within those areas at varying degrees of rarity (similar to the two, five, and ten kilometer egg groupings). I'm fine without a tracker. I don't need to be pointed to exactly where a Pokémon has appeared. But it would be nice to know what areas at least have the potential of spawning certain Pokémon, so you don't spend forever wandering around an area that turns out has 0% chance of spawning the Pokémon you're looking for without you even knowing it. So for example, if you wanted a chance to find Pokémon that are listed as appearing in "forest habitats," you'd look for places on your map that are dark green and have little tree icons or something. This came to mind during the recent Valentine's event. I didn't realize until halfway into that event that the event Pokémon would only increase in numbers in areas where they already had the potential to appear. Meaning that if those Pokémon had no chance of spawning in ones area, they weren't going to. But many people, like myself, have no idea whether some Pokémon have a chance of spawning in an area or not, because the "biomes" thing is not very indicative (I have water Pokémon appear all the time in places that aren't near water, and grass types all over the place despite living in a city without any nearby open fields or forests or grasslands, and Chansey for example is said to be a desert biome Pokémon yet some areas seem to have them despite not being actual deserts). If it was known instead for example that Chansey only appeared in yellow areas of the overworld map marked with little sand dune icons, and one had no such areas anywhere in their neighborhood, at least they'd know they wouldn't find a Chansey in their neighborhood and would have to find an area of map designated as a desert area. Anyhow, those are just some thoughts about what for me would be an ideal alternative to a tracker that would make searching for new Pokémon less blind. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2lDxpkB
