"New Legacy Movesets - What You Missed Out On"

#PokemonGO: Some Gen 1's lost moves with this update, which means they are no longer available (Legacy). While every move in Pokemon Go was rebalanced (almost all are slower and stronger), and while most Pokemon gained new moves that are MUCH BETTER, a few got inferior replacements. Here's some of the key movesets you've missed out on if you didn't already get them. This is a list of key attacker, defender, and prestiging pokemon that received new movesets that are WORSE than their old ones, or at best, tradeoffs from the old ones:DRAGONITE - Dragon Breath AND Dragon ClawDragon Breath + (Any Charge Move) has higher DPS than any combination of new Dragonite moves.Steel Wing + Outrage, the new highest DPS Dragonite moveset, is -10% the DPS of Dragon Breath + Dragon Claw (although it's only slightly worse than Dragon Breath + Hyper Beam).Plus, you have to deal with Steel Wing's terrible offensive typing (weak against Fire and Water) and it's 1.2s cooldown (Dragon Breath still has a 1.0 CD after rebalance).Even Dragon Tail, Dragonite's other new Quick Move, has a whopping 1.55s animation time, making it a lot clumsier than the rebalanced 1.0s Dragon Breath animation time.Outrage and Hurricane, replacing Dragon Pulse and Dragon Claw, are both slower moves than Dragon Claw. The amazing 1.7s animation time of Dragon Claw is replaced with a far-more-vulnerable 2.7s for Hurricane. While Dragonite did gain a lot of good defensive moves, his offensive options got gutted. He's still an A tier attacker, but not an S tier attacker anymore (that's Gengar now). Please keep in mind that EVERY Quick Move faster than 0.9s was made slower (the speed change did not single-out Dragon Breath, or Psyco Cut). Dragon Breath is still one of the faster Quick Moves in the new scheme. They did not, relatively speaking, nerf these quick moves.SNORLAX- Body SlamBody Slam was Snorlax's best defensive move, but it's gone, replaced by Heavy Slam.Zen Headbutt + Heavy Slam is -10% worse than the DPS of Zen Headbutt + Body Slam. Seems like a trend...Heavy Slam also has a more forgiving Dodge Window than Body Slam, and worse typing (Steel, instead of Normal), so, in reality, it's a good bit worse.Snorlax is still great on defense, but Niantic obviously wanted him to take him down a notch.LAPRAS - Ice ShardLapras lost Ice Shard, but gained Water Gun. Ice Shard was the mon's best defensive Ice move, which means that, on top of her CP nerfs, she's even more dead as top-tier defender. You probably won't miss this one as much, because the CP nerf already made Lapras very difficult to use as a defender, but if you have an Ice Shard Lapras already at a high CP, hang onto it for posterity.EXEGGUTOR - ConfusionThis one is a toss-up. Confusion was replaced with Extrasensory, which is around 0.55s faster (bad for a Defender), but also has nearly double the energy generation (good for every role).Hold onto your Confusion Exeggutors, but we may see Extrasensory / Psychic or Extrasensory / Seed Bomb replace Confusion + X as the best defensive moveset for Exeggutor.CLOYSTER - BlizzardBlizzard is out, Avalanche is in. 1 Bar Ice Charge move replaced with 2 Bar Ice Charge Move. While Avalance has slightly superior overall DPS to Blizzard, thanks it's vastly superior energy efficiency, 2 of them will leave you stuck in Charge Move animations for 2.3 seconds longer than 1 Blizzard.Like Exeguttor, this is more of a tradeoff, but don't throw out your Blizzard-carrying Cloysters yet, as they're less vulnerable while attacking / prestiging.GOLEM - Ancient PowerAncient Power got a huge buff in this patch; it's got DPS comparable to Stone Edge and Earthquake now!Golem also doesn't get it anymore, replaced by Rock Blast. Rock Blast isn't bad, as it's much harder to dodge than Ancient Power, but Ancient Power has a super-high energy efficiency that makes it worth holding onto now. This is is really a tradeoff attempt, not a nerf, but time will tell which one is more popular.ARCANINE - FlamethrowerIf you're a fan of Flamethrower over Fire Blast, hang onto your Arcanines with Flamethrower, cause it's been replaced with even worse options.Growlithe still has Fire Blast as his best Charge Move, but while Crunch and Wild Charge are better than the awful Bulldoze, they're not better than Flamethrower.BUTTERFREE - Bug BiteEveryone's favorite anti-Grass prestiger lost Bug Bite, replaced with Struggle Bug, which has a 50% longer animation time, making dodging a tricky game.Hold onto your Bug Bite / Bug Buzz Butterfree's, as these might be the premier anti-Grass prestigers for a long time.Unless, of course, you check out Scyther's new movesets. Air Slash is slooow, but damn it's effective.PARASECT - Bug BiteSame issue as Butterfree. Parasect's awesome Bug Bite has been replaced with Struggle Bug, a move that's, on-paper better, but it's 1.5s animation makes it incredibly awkward to use on offense.CLEFABLE - PoundPound replaced with Charge Beam, which has 50% longer animation time for slightly more EPS (and also, loses nice Normal typing for Electric).Pound + Dazzling Gleam is probably Clefable's best offensive moveset, but is also no longer available!GYARADOS - TwisterTwister got buffed to the point of no longer being garbage (solid defensive move now), but the addition of Dragon Tail and Crunch to Gyrados means that 'new' Gyrados can get defensive combinations that are relatively as good as Bite + Twister.Twister isn't bad though, despite it's low damage-per-energy, it's much tougher to dodge than Crunch or Outrage, so it's EFFECTIVE damage is still probably just as high as Crunch. It may actually be higher than Crunch against good dodgers, so hang onto it... via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2kRjXs8
