"[Research] Results from the Corsola poll! Corsola seems to only spawn between the latitudes of 31N and 26S."

#PokemonGO: The data used for this study was obtained through this poll. Thank you to all who responded for helping with this research! Now on to the findings! The data set in total contains 864 responses*.NorthThe northern end of this boundary (31N) was glaringly obvious. I could not have asked for a cleaner cutoff.Above 31N, 99.6% of the responses were "No" for Corsola. This suggests that Corsola can never be found above this latitude. In this range I received only 2 "Yes" responses, which I attribute to false responses, either intentional or accidental.Between 31N and the equator, 95.7% of people responded "Yes" to Corsola. This means that Corsola spawns universally or near-universally within this region. Those who responded "No" in this region (12 responses) likely just haven't yet seen Corsola. However, I will not rule out that there may be small pockets within this region that spawn Pokemon but don't spawn Corsola (although this seems unlikely).SouthThe southern cutoff is a lot messier. I partially attribute this to the fact that I received a lot less responses from the southern hemisphere, probably because much fewer people live in the southern hemisphere. However I will not rule out the possibility that the southern cutoff is just less concrete, and perhaps it is not a straight line like the northern cutoff is.Anyways, here is the data for the south:77.3% of people between the equator and 26S noted that they have seen Corsola before.98.2% of people south of 26S noted that they have NOT seen Corsola before.Again, this data isn't nearly as nice as the northern half, and it suffers from small sample size, so perhaps this needs further investigation.DataThe raw data can be found here. I will not close the poll so if you want to respond you can. The spreadsheet will automatically update with new data. However note that any new data may be colored by the information I have posted here. Thanks for reading! I am open to being wrong so if you have definitive proof that contrasts this (ex: video of a cell phone with Corsola from outside this region) I would be really excited to see it.*I have done a bit of cleaning on this data. Any Corsola sighting north of 65N or south of 65S I have removed. If anyone has evidence to support that Corsola does spawn in the polar regions, please comment below. Also I received several responses of ("No", 0). This seems to be some glitch with the form when it receives NULL data. Since all other responses from within 1 degree of the equator have been "Yes", I have also discarded this data. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2miQF5T
