"[Discussion] Niantic should do more events like this"

#PokemonGO: Anyone else think Niantic has pretty much struck the perfect balance with this event? And I'm speaking as a water biome player, so I'm not even seeing a lot of new stuff (though I did catch my first-ever Lapras yesterday, so thanks, Niantic). This is not the first spawn-based event they've done, but it's the first one in a while that wasn't biome-dependent (the past few were, as far as I can tell: starter, Partychu and Valentine's, or as I remember it, the Slowpoke event). I hope this signals that they're moving away from that model, because it is very disappointing for players to get hyped up about catching something rare only to see increased spawns of something they already have thousands of.Again, I'm a water biome player. But just the simple fact that I'm seeing coastal biome water types that are normally unheard of here (Seel and Shellder) makes this event interesting for me. And chasing down that Lapras at the end of a long workday yesterday was a thrill.TL;DR: Double candy, exp and the like is nice, but this game did not capture the imagination of millions because of the appeal of mass evolving Pidgey and grinding to level 35. People want to see and catch new stuff, and I really hope Niantic understands that and does more events that make that possible. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2odDioA
