"Dittostrat"

#PokemonGO: tl;dr: request for mathOn the weekend I finally had an opportunity to put my strongest Ditto in a gym. It was a L31 with 15/15/11 a/d/s stats. (I've finally gotten a 15/15/14 one, but it will be a while before I get enough stardust to level it up.)It gave me some of the easiest prestiging I'd ever had: When attacking with a L15 Snorlax (roughly CP1400 with HP172) the Ditto had effective CP2906, and I could do three full battles without even bothering to dodge, at 1000 Prestige per battle. Even my ~CP1000 Snorlaxes were able to get 1-2 battles in each; almost all of my Snorlax catches had middling IVs.I quickly got the gym to L7 before I had to wander off. My silly teammates all put in other Dittos instead of decent defenders and the gym fell shortly thereafter, but meh.I used Snorlax because it has a high-HP-per-CP, and the Ditto keeps its own HP after it transforms. Even after the "defender double" HP, it's astonishingly easy to defeat the Ditto, no swapping necessary.Somebody recently posted a scatter plot:http://ift.tt/2mpJs8N plot seems to indicate that other similar attackers (high transformed CP but low actual HP) would be (of course) Blissey and Chansey, with possibly any other 'mon on the "outlier" top side of the graph. Maybe even Shuckle?I know that two "same" 'mon of equal CP basically do equally well in battle, regardless of actual IVs. The biggest differences being that it takes less stardust for a higher IV 'mon to reach that level, and that one with a higher IV can obtain a higher overall CP.Has anybody worked on a Ditto calculator? By this I mean, given a Ditto's level and CP, what is its post-transform CP, and roughly what level can/should the attackers be in order to have that magical half-CP 1000-Prestige bonus? Specifically for those 'mon whose HP will give it the best advantages against Ditto.Edit: Bubblestrat is NOT cheating, but in a team game it's a bit selfish. Getting a decent pair that works well is HARD, especially when Niantic continues to fudge their CP formulae. And so generally only the one putting their 'strat 'mon into the gym gets their XP bonus. But! with a Ditto to prestige against, you can get your whole team involved. Most players have a Snorlax by now, and almost everybody will have one that's smaller than the high-CP Ditto. So even if they can't get a perfect 1000 points, they can likely still get an easy 500.And if they DON'T have a Snorlax, they surely will have SOMEthing available to fight with instead. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mp8On4
