"International Exposure of the SilphRoad Nest Atlas (Japan)"

#PokemonGO: I'm going to keep this simple, because I already lost this once already due to a Windows Update. This is meant to be a problem solving post. I'll lay out as much information as I can and contribute solutions as well, but my word is not final and I'm really looking for more input from all you Silph Road Warriors.edit- I'll also update some ideas that people submit. Makes it easier than scrolling through the comments. The Silph Road Nest Atlas is extremely sparse here in Japan. Tokyo and Osaka have a fair amount of reported nests, but I don't see much outside of the major 4 cities.I can think of some reasons why- particularly that Japan doesn't have a large English speaking population, and that Reddit is not a common resource in Japan. Other reasons out there too, but we'll leave it at that. edit- other reasons worth noting. PC usage in Japan has been on the decline over the past decade at a much steeper pace than, say, the US. The concept of having a laptop or PC in Japan is not nearly as common as it's made out to be, and smart phones easily fill the void. There are likely just as many Pokemon Go players in Japan as there are in the US asapercentageofthepopulation , give or take (do we have statistics on this?), which makes for a compelling argument to think of ways to expand the user ship of the Silph Road Nest Atlas. And while I'm focusing on Japan here (I'm an American living in Japan), I'm sure this could be implemented in other countries where English is not widely spoken (such as Vietnam, Indonesia [which score higher than Japan], and Thailand).I think each country has it's own unique reasons why the Nest Atlas isn't taking off, but more than likely, it's related to the popularity of Reddit (and English fluency). That isn't going to change easily. However, we have to remember that the Silph Road uses Reddit as a conditional log in. So, here are a few solutions I've come up with. Note that any combination of these solutions could be relevant, and I'd love to hear feedback as well as more solutions from all of you.Let's establish that switching the login platform (Reddit) is not for us to decide relevant, and perhaps a precursor to getting more of the international community logging into the Nest Atlas. Considering how important it is, it should be it's own topic.Add Multilanguage Support To The Silph Road Nest AtlasAs obvious as this might seem, I'm sure the implementation would be a headache. Let's just say it's an idea and move on.Create A New PSA For The Silph Road Nest Atlas (And Translate It)Or rather, make a script, and have all of you in the Youtubeverse make your own rendition of it. Since Reddit isn't common in some countries, it would be best assume that the audience has no clue what reddit is. Explain Reddit, the sign up process, nests, and how to add to the Silph Road Nest Atlas. Broadcast it to the world.Trainer Tips' 'International Dex' comes to mind, or perhaps contests for PSAs in various languages.Plan on adding Multilanguage Support To The New Silph Road AppI've heard there's an app in the works. Adding additional languages would be a great idea for the future. So, to all of you who use the Nest Atlas, especially all of you in foreign countries, add some solutions to the lack of nest reporting and let's hope we can see some change soon. One last caveat...ahvdk and others have mentioned that scanners are still common in Japan, and some have said that the scanners particularly are the primary reason why the Silph Road Nest Atlas is not common in Japan. I'll add my comments on this tomorrow. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2na4uYN
