"I really wish that the Trainers in S/M could get "refreshed" after an amount of time."


One thing I really liked in Sun & Moon was the Trainer animations in the overworld. Ranging from trainers scouting for other trainers to golfers practicing their swings, these animations really helped to differ battle-ready trainers from talking NPCs. They also made the routes seem more lively and not just being trainers placed here and there.But these animations only happens once. After battling the trainers they stop moving and just stand around. Which is good to see which trainer you've already battled.But it becomes jarring when you defeat all trainers in an area, because then they all just stand around. The routes start to feel very stiff after that. It is also more jarring for trainer classes that don't really have a reason to stop moving after being defeated. Why would the golfers not go back doing their swings? One of the most unsettling examples is the two golfers outside the motel on Route 8. After being defeated they just seem to stand in a line and stare at the ocean.Re-activating these animations for re-battles would have been an excellent way to use these animations more than once and keep the routes feeling lively. The animations would be a perfect way to tell which trainers are ready for a re-battle (compare with the VS Seeker re-battle animations in FRLG).So having re-battles and re-using these animations would both help keeping an area stay fresh after completing it. The re-battles gives you a reason to revisit the location while the battle animations prevents it from looking completely stiff and lifeless. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2qGh2ss
