"Just a friendly reminder that Raids are meant to be played as a group and to be friendly towards your fellow PoGo players, we're all in this together"
#PokemonGO: I find it sad that I even have to make this post in the first place, but here we are.My wife and I started raiding legendary Pokemon since they were released a few days ago, together we have completed about 30 raids and for the first few days everything was going so smoothly then yesterday happened. At first we started running into other Pokemon Go players that were all very friendly and always willing to help out with the raids, if you drove by a group and asked them to wait while you parked they were more than happy too. We even joined a local raiding Facebook group where people would post their locations and ETA to the next spot then everyone would wait for them to show up, even if it was 10-15 mins out.Now back to what I was saying about yesterday (I'd also like to preface this and say that this is all personal experience and I know it doesnt apply to everyone). Yesterday on my way home we ran into an Articuno raid just down the street from work, my wife and I pulled over and started messaging the facebook group as usual. After about 10 minutes we had four other people join us, knowing that six total wouldn't be enough to take it down and no one else replying on facebook I turned to discord. After waiting about 20 minutes the discord group finally made it out, it was six more people and they stood off to the other side of the parking lot from us. I approached them and thanked them for coming out because we had been waiting for a while and now that we had 12 people it should be easy to take down the raid. I asked if they could wait a second while I tell the others that more had arrived to help, they said sure. About 30 seconds later I came back to tell the discord group that we were all ready to go and noticed some of them were already tapping their screens, apparently they had started the battle as soon as they arrived and didn't tell us, the rest of us asked if they could back out so we could join and the response was "well we want to see if we can take it down by ourselves". Needless to say we were all pissed off at this point (me moreso because had I not posted about the Articuno they wouldn't have even known it was there), we had waited close to 25 minutes in 85 degree weather for more to show up and when they finally did, they were unwilling to help and down right selfish. The discord group couldn't beat Articuno with just the six of them so they were forced to back out and have us help, honestly if it wasn't for the fact I had been waiting so long I would've laughed in there face and walked away. The 2nd incident happened later that day at a Lugia raid. We had a group of about 12-13 people and took it down fairly easily, afterwards my wife's game crashed and it wouldn't let her back into the bonus catch screen it kept taking her back to the battle screen to set her team. After restarting the app and backing out multiple times we realized it just wasnt going to work and she would have to rebattle (but didn't make her use another raid pass). No problem, there was already another group starting to show up so she could join them. No big deal....wrong. When the new group showed up it was only five or so people and after asking around most were only level 25-29, that's not nearly strong enough to battle alone. We asked them to wait while we post for back-up and they did for about 10 minutes, then the girl in the other group became restless. "This is stupid, let's just battle this thing" she said, to which my wife replied I would like to wait, I know we can't take it on and I dont want to waste potions/revives to heal after we fail. The girl was unrelenting and started the battle anyways at which point the rest of her group joined in, they obviously failed and then became frustrated saying that if others would have helped they could beat it (the Lugia's HP hadn't even turned red). My wife turned to me and said I don't even want to play, lets just go and we did.Lastly the 3rd bad incident happened at night. Another Lugia battle that we went to, after beating it my wife and I had both caught it and were obviously excited about that. We both gave a little "yesss got it" to the group (everyone basically does this to some degree) and the guy standing next to me turned and said "good for you, glad you're so lucky" in the most toxic way possible, he then stormed off to his car and peeled out of the parking lot going way too fast.I don't know if it was the heat of the day, the fact that people are getting upset about catch rates, or the frustration of these raids being limited but the mood is starting to shift from what it was on saturday when legendary raids first started.TL:DR We are all in this together, Legendary raids are supposed to be a community driven event so remember to be friendly and courteous to your fellow players. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2vIU1Vl
