"What's an interesting Pokemon fact centered around language?"

Pokemon is a worldwide phenomenon, with fans all over the world. It's been translated (and localized... Jelly Donuts really are great, aren't they?) into many different languages. So, what's your favorite language or localization-based Pokemon fact? I have two. One is that Bulbasaur's French name is Bulbizzare. This sounds like its English name, but it's also a reference to its original Japanese one as well; Fushigidane, which means "Isn't it strange?". The second is that the Spanish word for Sand is Arena. It's not pronounced the same as the English word, and there's no way it's not just a coincidence... but it's a pretty neat coincidence nonetheless, because Arena Trap would work just as well being called Sand Trap. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2uevDMz
