"Idea for STAB change in Gen VIII"

With each passing generation monotyped Pokemon get overtaken by their dual-typed brethren. Dual-typed Pokemon are simply better than monotype. Their are 7 monotyped Pokemon in OU currently as opposed to 49 dual-typed Pokemon. That is an exact 1:7 ratio! If we look in the PU tier however there are 144 monotyped Pokemon and 106 dual type Pokemon.Enough talking about how power creep can ruin games. The solution I propose to give power back to monotype Pokemon and shake up the metagame is to give dual-type Pokemon a 1.25 multiplier on STAB moves as opposed to their current 1.5 multiplier. This would give monotype Pokemon, which are typically outclassed in resistances, potential movepools, and STAB coverage, a edge in power over the dual-typed Pokemon. In closing, I know the odds of GameFreak changing a mechanic that has been a staple since Gen I are small, but I like to theorize. Regardless, how do you think a change like this will affect the game? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2hDqxoN
