"The actual catch catch rates for Legendaries (Hint: it's not what the chart says)"
#PokemonGO: So, somehow in ALL of this, people for the most part don't seem to realize that the Legendary catch rate chart is just wrong because it just simply incorrectly calculates the catch rate. It has two flaws in it:First, while the BCR of the Legendaries is 3%/2%, the EBCR (Effective Base Catch Rate) have to apply the Level 20 CPM of .5974. This gives us EBCRs of 2.51%/1.67%. Of course, this is with zero factors, not even a medal.Second, The catch rate formula has to apply an exponent to the EBCR, which seems to mostly be incorrectly applied as a multiplier. So, when giving a range for catches, I use a few different assumptions:You have a Gold Medal, giving a constant 1.3You always throw a curve, giving a constant 1.7You always use a Golden Razz Berry, giving a constant 2.5These are factors that you can control consistently every throw. Quality of catch, even for the most experienced trainer, is variable. A non-quality catch obviously gives no bonus. A "perfect" quality catch gives a bonus of 2, but examining this more realistically (because if you can tell me that you can consistently hit a zero size circle excellent throw, or even can hit one in five, show me the video), looking at a constant of 1.9 gives a more realistic "max". When you apply these three possible constants (bad throw/real max/theoretical max), you get the following percentages:Three Legendary Birds: 13.10% / 23.42% / 24.49%Lugia/Ho-Oh: 8.89% / 16.20% / 16.98%So while the chart isn't massively off, it is off, even using theoretical throws. I'm not great at making charts or I'd consider doing one myself, but it's just important to note the numbers actually starting lower, but because of proper calculation, ending higher. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2iaxTkd
