"[Discussion] The Current State of the Game"

#PokemonGO: To those among you who wonder why there is quite a bit of negativity on the sub lately, I believe I speak for many players when I say that Pokémon Go is currently in a "drought" period. These are dark times indeed for the average player, who cannot necessarily travel to nearby cities or to other countries, or do raids before/after work. A lot of our in-game experiences are cut short by debilitating app crashes or network errors, and many of these have persisted for months with no signs of improvement. Many of us are worried about how the EX raid invite system will ultimately function, and are concerned about how many raids we need to do in order to be eligible - despite a general raid fatigue most of us have right now. We also keep hearing about regional events that most of us will never see, and many of us are left wondering where all of the worldwide events have gone. Did Niantic think we wouldn't notice? We keep asking ourselves why the buddy and egg hatching systems are so underpowered compared to the candies and rewards given by raids. Many people are frustrated that the candy and EXP they grinded for over the past year is now so readily accessible with raids, and it begs the question: "is the original walking/hunting aspect of the game obsolete?" It sure could use a pick-me-up. We're in somewhat of a limbo of having not a whole lot to do besides raids, and for many of us, those are growing stale pretty quickly. The last few legendary raids are merely being used as stalling tactics to help bridge the content gap, but I fear Niantic will stretch it for as long as possible just to scrape every penny out of the system before releasing a new feature or Gen 3. I honestly hope that this September is similar to the "January" period of earlier this year - where we had a few weeks of relative boredom before the next generation of pokémon was launched. However, a part of me is worried that Niantic will wait until the last possible moment, after all of the legendary beast rotations are over, to release something new and exciting. That could mean we are stuck here in this drought for months. It is also important to keep in mind that at any moment, Niantic could flip a switch to activate all shiny pokémon spawns (the code for it is already in the game), but like a lot of other things, they are waiting until we, the players, can't bare to wait any longer. I'm just not sure how long they think the raid hype can last though - it's a drought season, and we could all use a little rain. TL;DR: The game is not in a great place at the moment - with raid fatigue, imbalance, game-breaking glitches, exclusive regional events, waiting for more content that is probably months away, etc., etc. Thoughts? via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2xiBp1C
