"I was caught spoofing - Good job Niantic!"

#PokemonGO: Today when opening the game I was greeted by a red text warning that I had never seen before. This surprised me as I followed all of the general spoofing suggestions and only spoofed locally within my small town. I did not teleport to other towns and only hit gyms that I earned the badge for in person. I know everyone here will hate me and I deserve this but I'm excited by it as I think this level of spoofer detection is a great step forward for Pokemon Go!I originally began spoofing when Pokemon Go Fest started because my town was obviously taken over by spoofers (4AM, no one around, I would take the gym and it would be back under their control with literally no one around within minutes). Due to this I got tired of wasting gas and driving around when I could just as easily keep up from the comfort of my home. I know it is an awful way to play the game and I did not want for it to come to this, but it is the route that I went.I think we can all agree that spoofing is ruining the game (hypocritical, I know) and that this level of detection will make the game much better in the future. I, and many others, felt pushed into spoofing due to the seeming necessity of it in order to keep up. So, I would just like to say good job, Niantic! Keep up the good work and soon enough Pokemon Go will be a better game for all. I have uninstalled my spoofer software and look forward to seeing you all in the real world.TL;DR - Niantic's improved spoofer detection caught me spoofing locally (no teleporting, following avoiding detection guidelines, etc). This new ability to detect will be great for the game and hopefully reduce the number of spoofers overall. Good job on this, Niantic! via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2hzqACw
