"Preparation for Safari Zone events"

#PokemonGO: With the first three of the Safari Zone events just around the corner, I figured I could share some preparation tips with other trainers out there who obtained a ticket to one of the events or will obtain one to the future planned events. These are some I thought of myself and some that have been posted in various Whatsapp groups I'm part of. I want to open up discussion on other possible tips for preparation, whether it is F2P or paid. Please keep in mind these are just some suggestions of possible preparation, and everybody is allowed to enjoy the game and events in whatever way they like. Some people might not even have the time and/or money to be able to prepare like this. Main focus of the event is that it's going to be a fun event for everyone attending, of course!Pokemon box (Note: Before you start transfering pokemon or buy a box upgrade, make sure you also read 'Eggs & Incubators'!) You're obviously going to catch a lot of pokemon during the event. It would be best to make sure you have enough room before going, because you probably don't want to be stuck having to transfer pokemon every five minutes or spending too much time during the event having to mass-transfer spam pokemon because you forgot. If you have some coins to spend, buying a pokemon bag upgrade might be a good investment too. If you're preparing for the 2k event eggs, I'd advise to mass-transfer and/or buy more pokemon space right before the event, and not a couple of days in advance, to maximise your use out of the event eggs (see below at 'Eggs & Incubators').Bag/inventory All of the event locations are known for having quite a few sponsored stops, you will be getting more than enough items. It might be a good idea to clean out your inventory or spend some coins on buying a bag upgrade if you're already running low on bag space. On the other hand this is not the most important thing, because you'll have plenty of stops to grab new pokeballs and berries whenever necessary, so you should be able to play all day without upgrading your bag, while never running out of pokeballs either. Edit: As user Gav_Star pointed out below, if you use your GoPlus to catch pokemon, you might actually run out of pokeballs pretty quickly. Keep in mind the GoPlus prioritizes spawns, and with lures going all day there are going to be so many spawns, your GoPlus may not spin the stops at all. To avoid it might be best to stock up on pokeballs in advance if you intend to catch pokemon this way, or to switch the settings to pokestop only to gather a bunch of pokeballs again. Another option is to buy pokeballs with coins instead. Edit II: Stocking up on pinaps to thrown on rare spawns might also be a good idea. Thanks, Lithium2300 for reminding me.Eggs & Incubators Since the event will have special 2k eggs, you might want to prepare for this. If you have coins to spend, extra incubators would be a good choice to spend them on now. Making sure you have no eggs to incubate at all means you're garantueed to get the 2k event eggs as soon as you arrive. There's several methods for this: One is to simply not spin any pokestops to avoid getting new eggs, while hatching all of your eggs in the days before the event. (But you will lose out on the pokestop tier sadly.) Another way would be to keep your pokemon box completely filled whenever you spin a stop, because unhatched eggs already count as one pokemon in the box. If you have no room for additional pokemon, you will not receive eggs from spins. If you make sure to walk your remaining eggs in the days before the event, then make room in your pokemon box just before the start of the event and don't spin stops until you entered the event, you will have nine slots available for event eggs. And don't forget to check you have nine eggs with you at the moment you leave ;)But even if you're only planning to use your permanent incubator, you can plan accordingly. By making sure you have no other eggs incubated at the time you arrive at the event + at least one free spot, you can get yourself a special 2k egg right at the start of the event and start walking with it. If you want to take the maximum amount of eggs home with you, you should make sure you have no eggs with you at the start of the event (see above for methods).Coins If you have coins, now might be a good time to spend them on incubators, pokemon box upgrades and/or bag upgrades. Have no coins? Obviously you can attend and enjoy the event without this luxury. If you have some time, you could try to place some of your pokemon in gyms the following few days leading up to the event. You could technically still gather enough for an incubator or upgrade in the following few days, or even more if you plan on going to the events in October.Powerbank Well, you probably know this, but the event is going to last for most of the day. (From 10am till 8pm for Oberhausen, I don't know about the other ones.) Make sure your phone is charged, make sure you bring a fully charged powerbank and necessary cables, so you don't end up with a dead battery in the middle of the event. Edit: For Oberhausen they announced Team Lounges will have charging points, no mention of how many, so personally I'd still rather take an extra powerbank than count on these.Go Plus If you already own a Go Plus, this is definitely a good occasion to use it. These shopping centers have sponsored stops, and from experience in Oberhausen some could be so close to each other it's hardly possible to spin the stops manually. If you don't have one yet, you might consider buying one.Entrance ticket It's not stated explicitly you need a physical print of your ticket, but my email for Oberhausen says 'without ticket and ID you cannot participate' (translated). It might be advisable to print out the ticket. Either way it makes it easier to scan the QR code.General This should be common sense, but follow any rules of the shopping malls. There's also going to be people in the malls to shop, try to be mindful of that and don't block pathways or hinder people. I think we all want Niantic and the malls to organise similar events in the future, so let's try to make it a enjoyable day for all parties involved.Edit: Avoiding catching/spinning softban As user Gav_Star pointed out, if you are catching a lot of pokemon and/or spinning a lot of stops, prepare accordingly to avoid receiving softbans during the event. There's a maximum of 3500 catches for seven days, so make sure not to go over this amount before or during the event.Thoughts? Have any other tips or thoughts about these? Is there any particular way you are preparing for the events? And of course I wish all of you who do go, whether it is to the actual events or some player-organised one in the cities a lot of fun. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2xrfm9R
