"On raid boss healing when you rejoin a solo raid"

#PokemonGO: After reading Raid boss healed on rejoin?! I've decided to test what exactly is happening, so I did a few attempts at an Exeggute raid with a single Charizard and a bunch of Charmanders (poor Charmanders!). After the Charizard took the boss to yellow I stopped attacking and watched what happened. When I stopped attacking the boss didn't start auto-healing after a few seconds as I theorised might happen in the other post. However, on one occasion the boss went from yellow to green after killing my third or fourth charmander (I didn't attack for more than 30 sec at this point, so it can't be the usual sync issue). On another attempt I decided to start attacking again with ~20 sec on the timer and I noticed that my first few hits didn't seem to have any effect (similar to how it behaves when somebody feeds a pokemon while you fighting it in a gym - the health bar freezes or bounces up to reflect your damage relatively to the improved pokemon's health)Leaving and re-entering the battle before all your pokemon fainted does not re-heal the boss, even if you re-join with different pokemon. However, letting all your pokemon to faint and then re-joining does heal the boss by a few percent. Again, this happened even if I didn't attack for up to a minute letting the boss to kill my poor Charmanders. The health bar updates when you rejoin the battle, not before then. Here's my theory of why it may be happening:Killing each your mon gives the raid boss a tiny confidence boost which restores a little of its HP, maybe the size of a single fast attack. This is separate from "your last attack did not count" because it happens even if the fainted mon did not attack at all.Killing your whole raiding crew gives the boss a larger HP boost - this is the "health rubber-banding on rejoin" kinda-bug-which-might-be-a-freture.Those changes happen on the server side and are not reflected on the client immediately, which makes things not obvious if you're attacking or especially if there are multiple attackers. In particular, the "whole raiding party fainted" health bonus is probably applied immediately when your 6th pokemon faints but the UI only updates after you rejoin.I'm not sure if the same thing happens during a multi-person high-level raid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. It would be quite difficult to notice though because of the delay in updating the client and the remaining attackers wiping out the "health bonus" before it can be seen. Also, maybe the "health bonus" is a fixed amount of HP as opposed to a % of total boss' HP so it's relatively smaller for higher-level raids.Practical suggestions:If your 6th pokemon is about to faint it may be more efficient to leave NOW and re-join with a fresh party instead of allowing your last pokemon to faint because the latter will partially re-heal the boss. In fact, people duo-ing Tyranitars in those youtube videos do exactly that. Do not let your last pokemon to faint. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2gHn4Tb
