"Lite new Tier 3 Raid Bosses Guide + Cloyster [Graph Attack]"
#PokemonGO: Link to album. So I made these graphs for my 11/9 stream where I go over this very topic, and I feel they really help visualize the problems some trainers are running into on their solo challenges (specifically against Cloyster and Omastar). Rather than arbitrarily starting at 0,0, I opted for including some overlays to help visualize where their DPS is in relation to clear time and to translate TDO a bit better. I may just re-brand TDO altogether to "% damage done before fainting" in the future. You'll notice that there isn't a graph for Ninetales. This is because Ninetales can't be reliably solo'd. Even if you have the right Pokemon, use the right strategy, and have the best phone, there isn't even a 50% guarantee that you'll solo the raid boss. Rather than make a graph for it and mislead trainers into thinking its a good idea to waste their raid passes on it, I decided to not include it altogether.Cloyster GraphHelpful Mons/Break PointsMachamp 29.5+Raikou 29+Tyranitar (Stone Edge) 28.5+Entei 34+Starting out with our "honorary" tier 3 raid boss, if you look at the TDO and the guidelines suggesting how many Pokemon you'll go through, then notice the small window of ~8 different Pokemon, most of which are struggling to stay within the "Party size 6, clear time 170s" range, its a small wonder many trainers can't get past this. If you're not stocked up with multiple high level Machamps, Raikous, Stone Edge Tyranitars, or Focus Blast Mewtwos, then this fight does become quite the struggle. It's worth noting that this graph doesn't include dodging. Dodging in this fight will definitely ease up on the amount of Pokemon you burn through. "TheSource" commented on my video that Cloyster will close its shell and you will no longer see it's eyes and mouth before using a charge move. I have yet to fight one myself, but looking at videos of other trainer's clears, that does appear to be the case and may be a large boon in your dodging.Omastar GraphHelpful Mons/Break PointsExeggutor (Bullet Seed) 26.5, 34.5Exeggutor (Extrasensory) 27 (not featured on graph, roughly 18 DPS, 16 TDOVenusaur (link to breakpoint tool)If you have attempted a Omastar solo and it didn't work out for you, there is one Pokemon who will certainly make things easier and that's Exeggutor. Above all other Pokemon, even a level 26.5 Exeggutor (w/ Bullet Seed) will be putting in more work towards getting that solo in. Mewtwo??? Worse than Exeggutor. Shoot, now I have to make a shitpost infographic on thisWhile Bullet Seed is the quick move of choice here, Extrasensory (and the Legacy moves) isn't that bad. It's also worth noting that the featured break points are for Solar Beam, which is objectively superior to Seed Bomb. Like Extrasensory, it isn't all that far behind.Normally for these graphs I try to use the "hardest" moveset. Without dodging that'd be Ancient Power but since Ancient Power is so easy to dodge (imo) I decided to opt for the runner up, Rock Blast. If you're facing Ancient Power and are able to dodge, you'll have an easier time. If you can't dodge well, you'll have a harder time. Hydro Pump sets increase the value of all Grass-types while slightly hindering everything else (Machamp). If you want the good word, you can run the simulations on Pokebattler yourself ;)Scyther GraphHelpful Mons/Break PointsGolem 29.5, 26Moltres 30.5, 24Entei 31The trouble with Scyther isn't getting the DPS in, but keeping your party alive. Every single one of Scyther's charge moves is a multi-bar charge move. So while Fury Cutter has wet napkin tier damage, there will often be times Scyther busts out several charge moves in a row. In a "sloppy solo" I did, one of my Golems sturggled to get 2 Ancient Powers off before being blitzed down by a Fury of X-Scissors. If you're entering a Scyther raid, be prepared to spend a lot of revives and potions (I mean, they give you 20 each after the raid so, no big, right?)Using Rock Throw Golems (Stone Edge >= Rock Blast>>Ancient Power) will put you on easy street. The more Golems you throw at it, the better time you'll generally have. If you've powered up Entei or Moltres, this is definitely their time to shine! Raikou will show off more vs Aerial Ace.Porygon GraphHelpful Mons/BreakpointsMachamp 35, 29.9, 25.5, 22.5Dragonite 35.5, 29Is this easy mode? Unlike the other tier 3 raid bosses, Porygon can be easily defeated with any 2 of Machamp, Dragonite, Heracross, Mewtwo, or Entei. Unlike the other graphs, I used "Dodge Specials PRO" for the simulations since you can see all of Porygon's charge moves coming a mile away. If you can't dodge due to phone issues (or because you're too cool to dodge) then it'll likely take you twice as many Pokemon, at which point it may start to feel like a "real" raid boss. It's also worth pointing out that Dragonite and Heracross will experience an increased performance against Solar Beam, and Raikou, Rhydon, and Donphan (not featured) will gain a surge in TDO against Zap Cannon.NinetalesIn case you glossed over the intro, I chose to not feature Ninetales because it cannot be reliably solo'd. Unless you want to get the mark of honor, climb that hill, etc, there's no sense in trying to solo Ninetales. Even with the right Pokemon and the right movesets (literally Stone Edge Golem) and are fighting the right "solo-able" moveset on Ninetales, you are still very unlikely to succeed. I'm not saying it can't be done, I am saying it is a "wasted" raid pass.I hope this post and graphs help players solo these new raid bosses better! If you'd like to see my livestream on the subject or want to share this information in an audio-visual format, I have a recording of it up on the youtube.
