"Pokemon Theory: Professor Kukui Hates Mega Evolution"
As anyone who looks at the Pokedex Entries for Mega Evolution knows, they are some of the darkest stuff said machine has ever put out. The question has always been "Why?" Why are they so dark? Well, what if I told you that they are all lies. All created by one individual. One person who hates Mega Evolution. That person is Professor Kukui. Before you post, hear me out.Let's start by looking at a certain device. The Pokedex. It is given to you by the professor of that region. It is also stated, in game, that the professor of said region designed it. In my mind, that shows there's little doubt as to the influence they hold on the entries. They have complete control over them. In many cases, these can be seen as personal observations of said Pokemon in the wild. However, that belief disappears when you consider something said by another professor. Professor Sycamore of Kalos. In X & Y, Professor Sycamore is incredibly passionate about Mega Evolution. So much so that he sees it as a proven bond between Pokemon and it's trainer. He gives nothing but praise for it and sees it as a goal that Pokemon and trainer need to work towards together to show their true power. In fact, this is more or less proven in the Anime. Just having the required stone is not enough. It is shown multiple times that the bond is important in unlocking and controlling that power. So, if that's the case, then Professor Kukui must have seen battles of Mega Pokemon and witnessed said power first hand. However, if that's the case, and saw those battles, then he must have seen some dark stuff. However, Mega Evolution is meant to be the bond between Pokemon and Trainer. Plus, consider that, despite all the power he describes, this kind of stuff he puts out never really happens. You'd think this would be in at least some books or something if stuff like this happened. Not just in the Pokedex? So what's going on? Why is this stuff not taught to trainers? Think about where your Mega Ring in Pokemon Sun & Moon comes from. You get it from two trainers who come from Kalos and are visiting Alola. They highly praise it too. They see it as a powerful bond between trainer and Pokemon. Why praise something like this if it's so dangerous? Why would this be the case? Then, it starts to make sense if the entries for Mega Evolution are nothing but lies. But then, why would he lie about all that stuff? Why create such a negative aspect about them? This can all be explained by the fact he hates Mega Evolution. If you truly loathed something, most of us wouldn't think twice about making it appear in such a negative light. Most would do anything to make it look bad.So, if this is the case, the question then becomes, "Why does he hate it?" I'd say he hates one having to harness that power for so long. The thing he introduces us to is Z-moves. They are quick bursts of power, unleashed into a devastating attack. In other cases, they give certain enhancements. Still, they are quick bursts of energy and they only last one move.Mega Evolution on the other hand lasts from the moment it's activated to the point where the Pokemon faints or the battle ends. This means that a skilled trainer could make it last a long time.I see Professor Kukui as someone who sees powering up a Pokemon as something that should last for only a small amount of time. A quick burst. Not something that has the potential to last through the whole battle. This is the whole reason he hates Mega Evolution and created such dark entries for them. Now, note that I have seen the more positive entries for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. That still doesn't change the fact of how much darkness there is in the rest of the entries. How much malice is put into them. In my eyes, those don't help him and only make him look hypocritical in the end.So, your thoughts? What do you think of my theory? Please comment on it. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2mz6ieH
