Almost every Pokémon game has a line that makes you go, “wait a moment, this is supposed to be a kids game!” It usually comes out of nowhere and is unusually serious and adult compared to the rest of the game. Sun and Moon in general were full of these moments, but one of my favorite ones is the implication that Hau’s dad left his family.Hau: All right! Then it’s decided! I’m gonna get stronger and stronger, and then I’m gonna travel the world with my Pokémon! I’m gonna go find Lillie! And my dad, too!Your father?Hau: Oh, yeah, him. Heh... So he works far away from Alola these days.It could be taken as Hau’s dad just works overseas, but I originally took this as Hau’s dad being an absent father.
