"Evolving Wurmple -- Crowd Sourcing"

#PokemonGO: Hey guys. I'd like to do some crowd sourcing here to figure out what might cause Wurmple to evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon. Some have proposed gender, others have proposed best stat, others have proposed time of day, and still others have proposed true random. There may even be other factors, such as weather, involved.So I'd like you to give me as much information as you can about your Wurmples as they evolve.
