"Level 40 on 2GB data - my experience"
#PokemonGO: I am an ultra-low data user, and I'd like to share my experiences with data usage.I just hit level 40 this week. I've had max daily coins almost every day for the past year.My data plan is 200MB/month. (100% free from T-mobile, but no longer offered for new users)My lifetime data usage is 1.9 GB (iOS device running nothing but Pokemon. The Pokemon app used 1.6 GB. The other 0.3 GB is from system services I couldn't figure out how to disable)I spend a lot of time on university wifi.I use data only for PoGo+, gym battles or when playing socially with people.I have a dedicated Pokemon device, so the game rarely actually closes and has to restart.Restarting the game uses a solid 1MB.Once I didn't scroll through my pokedex on wifi after updating. It cost me 70MB in 20 minutes.Once I didn't scroll through my pokedex on wifi after a game crash. Loading the game and scrolling through a level 5 gymcost me 8 MB.The original gym system was rough on data. Taking down a level 10 gym solo would cost me about 8-10 MB. I had to plan carefully to find the right gyms to collect 100 coins/day.The first gym rework made life a lot easier because taking down a gym could be done in a half hour on 4-5 MB data. The current gym system is very easy on data because I need to play less. Collecting 50 coins/day is easy, so I only really use data for raids. Raiding uses about 2-5MB. Roughly I think most if not nearly all of it is used in the first couple seconds to load the gyms when I turn the game on before the raid starts. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2kb7Mem
