"Open Street Map data displayed in game closely corresponds to the August 14 announcement of EX-Raids [More accurate dating]"

#PokemonGO: TL;DR: OSM Edit from 11th Aug shows in game, edit from 15th Aug doesn't. EX-Raids were announced on 14th Aug.The weekend has come and gone, and I have been able to take a couple of quick road trips around my region to see which of my Open Street Map (OSM) edits are reflected in the Pokemon Go game world’s map ‘skin’ and which edits aren’t. The dates discussed here are based on the map as it appears in Australia, but the majority of reports seem to be confirming that the map is the same globally.I found that this edit from Friday, the 11th of August, 2017 04:56 UTC appeared in Pokemon Go: {Imgur} - {OSM}But this edit, from Tuesday, the 15th of August 09:13 UTC did not appear: {Imgur} - {OSM}.Interestingly, this corresponds to a similar time in August as first Mewtwo raids at the Pokemon Go Stadium event in Yokohama, and also the initial announcement of Ex-Raids on the 14th of August, 2017.While this may be a coincidence, the planned locations for Ex-Raids have been linked to locations including parks (Developer Insights: An Update on Raid Battles - Pokemon Go Blog), and other travellers such as /u/LimboMon have found links between certain OSM map features and the occurance of EX-raids in those locations. It may be possible that Niantic had always planned to have some manner of bias towards certain mapped locations, and that this is evidence of this intention, or it may merely be coincidence. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2BvMAmK
